Yes, they can get fat. Ours is ''rotund'' as her walks had stopped for some time due to Daddy's smashed leg ! We cut down her food accordingly and she is active playing with her Kong in the backyard but, like me, the kilos come on easily.
They are a wonderful breed, though - nearly as good as our previous dogs (Great Danes) but not as gentle.
