Job gone, no car as I had a company car, partner of 4 months (quite understandable) doesn't want to take this journey with me - but we can be friends, have to move out of my apartment on the Gold Coast and move to Sunshine Coast as my family and friends are there (SO happy about that) love love love them for the support they want to give me and treatment is 6months chemo, radiation and hormone pills this has certainly chnaged my life. I am so thankful to read other peoples experiences this is a comfort to know expectations and tips on getting through this. Thank you Di

Cancer does turn your life around, I had trouble adjusting from my old life. One minute you are working and socialising and everything and then suddenly you are attending medical appointments, endlessly waiting for results. I'm glad you have family to support you, it's a long, sometimes difficult road that we travel but you will find that you can do it. I'm halfway through my treatment now, and have come to realise that at the end I will have a new normal life. My old life has gone and I'm focused only on important things now. I have found out who my real friends are and I'm closer to my family than I ever was. I'm a much stronger person than I was before and I'm always looking for silver linings and have found they are always there, you have to look hard sometimes but they are there. I wish you all the best for your move to the Sunshine Coast and also wish you well with your treatment. If you ever need to talk or vent this site will always help you with how you are feeling. Thank you Hazel for your kind words, yes feel I am in limbo right now but know that I am moving into a new life and very aware that these changes are going to change me, I am sure for the better if I can say this (maybe to soon) but my family and friends have been there for me and I am very greatful. Time will tell but it is very daunting but as long as I can laugh then I should be ok. Thanks Di x

I am sorry that like us you find your self in this situation. Yes, it does turn your life upside down. As time goes on little, by little we settle down into what we have to do and you sound like you have an enormous amount of support which is going to b a blessing to you. Let people help you as much as you can. Stay in touch with those who have reached out to you and try to keep that part of life as normal as possible. One day at a time, is the mantra here, and it is very true. I hope you keep coming back here to share your feelings and thoughs as you will find everyone very supportive. Welcome to this amazing network of Pink Sisters. We all know exactly what you are going through. Enjoy your quiet week next week. Once you start your chemo, you'll get into a sort of routine and things will settle down. Believe it or not time goes very quickly and before you know it, your main treatment will be over and you can start your new normal. You do find out about who are important in your life during your journey. Family connections for me grew stronger and stronger. I hadn't seen my younger sister for 10 years. But when she found out I had BC, she flew across the country from Perth to Melbourne and we made amends whatever stupid thing kept us apart for so many years. We regularly correspond now and I feel that our whole family is 'whole' again. My husband and two grown up children are my anchors keeping me tethered to happiness. I could not have done this without them. I am glad you are moving back to be with your family and friends. You need loving support through this journey. It's a bumpy road and they will help you ride it out. BC does change your life but I like to think that part of it has been for the better. Not that I am happy to have had BC but I'm happy that my family are very much more tight knit. We have to have some positives don't we. When do you start chemo in Feb? Not long now. The worst is the unknown but when you have been through the first one, the others aren't so bad. Keeping laughing Di. Those endorphins can't do you anything but good. Lots of love Janey xxx

Good luck for tomorrow, the first chemo is daunting, but try not to be too anxious. Hopefully you have someone that will be able to go with you as there is alot of sitting around.

I so remember my first chemo I was a bundle of nerves, they had to give me something to calm down. It seems so far away now but I was just 1 year ago.

Your hair will start falling out on about day 14, mine came back a lovely silver and I waited 6 months before colouring I just didn't want to put chemicals in my body.

There is never a being too prepared, there are so many different side effects that you can get and you just don't know which ones if any you will get.

Hopefully you sleep well tonight and the dex doesn't play with you too much.

Well what does a girl do the day before Chemo....I dye my hair yep !! Greys are gone lol but when it falls out I will keep some so I can match the colour when I am aloud to dye my hair again as I know it will be snowy white when it does grow back.

I feel I will just go with the flow of the syptoms but I thank everyone for the tips on feeling better going thru this I have stocked up with everything bit too prepared I think but I have all the options. I am living right near the Ginger factory making a visit there today to see what ginger options there are and get some ginger beer.

Will blog on the feelings I am going thru and possibly will be needing more tips, I hope I can also help others as you all have been so wonderful it really does help to know you have the support.

Unfortunately I was booked into the look good feel good program tomorrow but of course can't cancel Chemo will do another session next month.

Am in a happy place so good to start this and get it over with. I plan to exercise & rest when need but I am also helping my sister with her boys which I am enjoying as I now have an empty nest.

I am at Nambour Hospital on the Sunshine Coast they were very well prepared on my initial appointments last week and are very ready for me. I am sure after the 1st treatment time will tell how my body reacts but I will be keeping a journal to help to remember how I feel.

Good to see you back here again and that you have moved and sorted everything out. You sound like you are in good spirits despite your nervousness about starting Chemo on Wednesday. Just remember that the anticipation is far worse than the participation.

Keeping taking care of yourself and drink a good amount of water between now and Wednesday. It helps with having good veins for nurses to choose from.

All the best and look forward to hearing how you got on. Which hospital are you now attending?
