Overseas Holiday with Breast Prothesis

Hi Everyone. I have had a bilateral mastectomy last July, opted for no reconstruction, therefore wear a prothesis. My hubby and I are going to Hawaii in March and then off to Europe in July. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with airport security whilst wearing a prothesis. I have heard that American security is pretty thorough. Not sure whether to wear it or put it into my carry-on. I don't want any embarrassing moments at the airport! Any information greatly appreciated. Best wishes to you all ALWAYS. Chris.x

    Sorry Chris I think I was a bit ambiguous click the heading New diagnosis, then in the left hand column under Treatments click on Breast prostheses then scroll down to Overseas travel, hope that is helpful.

    Hi Chris, I travelled through Europe with a prosethis...no problems at all. Enjoy your travels! Xx

    I have travelled to Fiji with both implant & external prosthesis & haven't had a worry. Last year much to the amusement of my fellow travel party I was even subjected to the new full body scan thing.....the one that you stand in with arms out. The only thing they then *patted down* was my thighs !!!!! ........I gather they were a little larger than they thought they should be !!!!  My girlfriends by this point were almost rolling on the floor uncontrollably !

    I have travelled to Fiji with both implant & external prosthesis & haven't had a worry.
