I find the garden a destressor. Yesterday, between rain, we took the cat with us, very squelchy underfoot, but so refreshing. Lilac buds starting to open, late daffs starting to flower and oodles and oodles of Rosella's in the trees

- We are very fortunate. Although I curse Mr Bower Bird because of his habit of taking a bite here, there and everywhere from the tomatoes, he does entertain us with his mimicry and antics. He has been on the block now for over seven years and is often seen poking around in the heavily planted tropical back garden. Struts the pathways as if they have been put there just for him. I often disturb him when I take the scrap bucket down to the compost bays - he is usually digging and poking around for bugs and worms.The bower is about twenty feet from the house, just off the front verandah.
- What a privilege it is to be able to watch him make his bower and then woo his bride. We very rarely get to see them in my yard. Sometimes they will visit our trees but that's it.

How fortunate you are to watch it all come together - Our resident Bower Bird has constructed a new bower beneath the Fiddlewood tree. It is a magnificent construction that has taken over three weeks and involved the collection of much useful material.He is very proud of his bower, he displays and struts around and through it.The two females he attracted through his dancing, strutting and building show no interest in the bower, they turned their backs, however yesterday a third female turned up and was very taken with it, showing much admiration in his building and decorating skills. He is definitely, according to her, Husband Material.We were able to inspect and photograph the bower today. The male Bower Bird has used pebbles, rubble and broken pieces of Hardieplank wall cladding to build pathways in and out. There is a Bush Chook (Emu) beer can (no idea where he got that from) along with screws, rivets, nails and a piece of blue carpenter's chalk (husband did wonder where that went from the new laundry building site) decorating and lining the surrounds.Take a look at the magnificent structure that has been built, just for courting and wooing his bride to be!
