One year today!

One year ago today,at 1.15 pm,I sat in my surgeons office, waiting for the results of my core biopsy.A week earlier,he had sent me home with a book ,titled,Early Breast Cancer, and he said,if the result is. negative, you can simply throw the book away. I found it hard to look at that little book.I couldn't read it at night,or on a cloudy day, and I found it easier to read sitting in the sun!! He came into the office, and asked me how I was.I remember I said " good" then he said this,"Well I have the results of your core biopsy, and as we thought,it's a cancer" . Hardly remember anything else after that.I replied with "aw yep", and then my daughter,( who had come with me because my husband was overseas) took over. I remember my mouth was so dry ,even my tongue went dry,and my hands were stone cold.I couldn't keep my feet still, and I kept rubbing them back and forth on the carpet. My daughter was trying to hold my hand, and at the same time, she was writing in the book she had brought along,as the surgeon told us what the next step was. That day is as clear as yesterday,to myself and also to my gorgeous daughter. A defining moment in my life, for sure!!! Today,I feel well.I have had my yearly checkup, and I will have my onco checkup in 2weeks. So to any ladies out there, who are just starting out on this bugger of a journey, try to remember that it does finish, and life resumes again, for most of us. For the ladies that are not as lucky as me,I think about you most days, and hope that a cure for BC is very very close. Take care everyone.Cheers xoxRobyn

I agree with Narelle, you are truly inspirational to all the ladies including myself who log in looking for support and guidance in a down to earth, no nonsense manner. I hope you and your family have a well deserved celebration tonight. Wishing you continued good health into the future. Thank you. Marls
