Let it be known...you can sparkle

Let it be known when you put on your headscarf Your soul strengthens Let it be known when you walk into your treatment You are taking care of yourself Let it be known when you come across starring Eyes in public You are there to give these souls the reflection of a fighter Let it be known that your journey will take you to an unknown place at time But yet you are here & being this beautiful person who will look into the mirror and tell yourself I am still beautiful, I am still special to my family & friends, I now have the heart to love me & accept my journey as a character builder. Splash a colour or two into your day & make it colourful. Let it be known that you are special, that is why we are all here. You sparkle!! (yes, no not green! Just human ..     :0 forgot to mention - you lovely words - I'm going to use them to send with my next email to family & friends.

    Everyweek I send an email to my 'group' as we are away from home for treatment & always include photos - so they can see I'm alive & well. Also there is a request for any new head do's to be photographed!

    The funny thing is if I'm late by 2 days, the emails start happening! What's wrong we haven't heard from you? Sometimes I'm just tired :) a concept they find diffiuclt to believe with me. And I too wonder what I do with my days sometimes! Not what I use to do that's for sure.

    Hope your sleep in was good & the boys didn't burn the toast.

    Here I am in bed having a sleeping at 8am with my young boys making their own breakfast, feeling rather privileged and relaxed. Now getting to read Gina's post, a smile has added to my face. Gina you sparkle ... Have a fab journey ...

    Have to totally agree Amy!

    My husband & I call our 'cocktail' treatment a date. Make an effort to dress well & bring in our treats - all healthy but good to have if you feel like it.

    Have gone through the frustration of tying scarves but now have the knack & quite enjoy complementing my outfit.

    Making more effort with makeup as always been a challenge - I never was much into it but now try to do it well with what I've got.

    Hope all is continuing so positively for you.

    Hi Amy, what a wonderfu attitude you have ....... you rock !!!

    Your words are so true .... being diagnosed with breast cancer - or any type of cancer - is not something to be ashamed of and to be hidden.  We should always remember that we did not choose cancer it chose us, and the treatment we receive, whether chemo or radiotherapy or medication will make us stronger to deal with the pointing fingers, stares and whispers.

    We are not contagious, toxic or pariahs - we are ordinary women who have hit a couple of speed bumps in the road of life.
