It's been a while

It's been some months since I have posted, I am regularly on here reading and comment but haven't had anything to say.

This week I had my appointment with my onc and yay she has moved me to 9 months for my next visit. I was so happy, to know that everything is ok and that the doctors are happy is such a relief and a weight off my shoulders that I honestly didn't realise I was carrying.

When I was going through my plethora of surgeries and treatment it was a comfort to see the doctors and then when it was all finished I felt a big let down, like what I am on my own now! I eventlually got used to the visit being spread out and npw I feel great joy to move into the next stage with my doctors.

To be honest its been a struggle this year, after 9 months of treatments I returned to work a bit too soon and have struggled this year with constant viruses etc, but I am getting there.

Yesterday I attended a BCNA Forum and the medical oncologist there stated it may take up to 3 years for the fatigue to go away, strangely that gave me comfort its not just me.

    Wonderful news Donna and I am so happy to hear it all went well. I have my checkup with my surgeon in 3 weeks. I haven't seen her since my lumpectomy in March. The lymphedema problem with me is still an issue but otherwise I am doing okay. Hope to see you again soon, and enjoy your annual leave and get lots of rest.

    Hi Donna,

    It's great to hear that you have some of that stress lifted off your shoulders after your appointment :-) I hope you enjoy the time off and do something nice for yourself - maybe like reading a book in the sun

    Great news!  So glad to hear your check-up went well - and yours, too Deanne!   It is so lovely to read that you are all doing well, and sharing the happy news. It is so good for our newbies to read positive posts - some of the fear goes away. Enjoy your month's leave!  Michelle xx

    Each change is a step further away from the beginning! Well done Donna,but don't work too hard!! I feel that our bodies take a very long time to truly recover.As Deanne said,we shared hard times,and now we share happy news.Isnt it JUST GREAT!!!!! Cheers xox Robyn

    I work in a corporate enviroment and travel alot for my job. Its a fact of life that I knew, guess that I just thought I would be superwoman and be able to manage as I did before I got BC.

    I am about to have 1 months long service leave and have cleared my calendar of travel for the remainer of the year. I hope that will help.

    Happy for you that your appointments have spaced out further and the doctors had good things to say. I'm sorry that the last 9 months have been hard for you, it can be a hard slog, hey. It is nice to hear some good news, take care,

    It does feel good when, as time goes by, the medical appointments get further apart and a little bit of confidence in our own health returns. While, of course, there is still the need to be vigilant with our health you do feel better about it. I have moved to 6 month visits spread between my surgeon and oncologist and feel like I am happy with this too. After my visit last week I actually felt like celebrating! The relief for all the family seemed the same. There were smiles all around and just a little bit of relaxing all that tension that accompanies each appointment! Slowly we are getting there and it feels so good when the doctors have positive things to say. We shared our hard times now it feels great to share the happier news. Yay! :) Deanne xxx
