Have to share good news

Today was Good News Day.
Finally something to celebrate.
I had a mastectomy last Thursday with axillary lymph node clearance.
My previous surgery in January resulted in a shock after pre surgery scans did not show up the extent of my cancer. I had a lumpectomy which pathology showed had no clear margins in two sections removed and one sentinel node out of 2 positive.
I have been through 6 rounds of pretty heavy duty chemo, every three weeks.

Today we got the results of the final pathology from the mastectomy.
There were tiny foci in the breast in both areas of concern, but all clear margins.
20 extra lymph nodes removed clearing levels 1-111.
All negative for cancer!

What a huge relief.

My surgeon was quite excited to tell us, and the " BUT" we were half expecting never came.

So now I just have to have radiation on the chest wall, she can't see any reason to do the Lymphnode region as they were not involved.

I still have a drain in and am struggling a little with adjusting to the image in the mirror, but I feel so much more positive and uplifted.
We had a celebratory lunch after the appointment.

I just had to share, Jennie
