Going overseas

hello everyone.

Thought i might pop in to say hi and how are you and hope life is not too much of a struggle but every now and then littered with good news. And I have read some good news that lightens my heart to know people are winning little battles and gives me hope and something more to look forward too.

I am happy to say I am going overseas NZ to visit my wonderful family.

Along with me will of course be my meds and tablet case, a letter from my oncology doctor also my brace. It will be more cumbersome though necessary to take along with me but I booked a wheelchair at all terminals and with 3 and a half weeks away I may need to rest. I find that I am losing weight, though not extreme but these analgesics along with my tamoxifen seems to create this weight loss which I am a little happy with but wary of its continual effects.

I don't really want to come back a skeleton. But I wish you all decreased cancer spread and increased free radicals and a strong immune system. Bye

    thank you Julie. I do recall somewhere in my memory about keeping the packaging. yeah will have a lovely time.

    thanks for the update, I am in Perth too, near Wanneroo so yes, definately looking forward to the warmer weather especially as I seem to feel the cold a lot lately. It will be a lot cooler in Christchurch but it's such a beautiful place and I hope you have a wonderful time. Really looking forward to my cruise out of Sydney All the best x

    How wonderful is it to plan and take trips away?! I have been fortunate to travel overseas quite a bit in recent years. I have never taken letter re meds but was told to keep them in packaging showing they are prescribed for you. Never had any trouble with this.

    morena Robyn. Thank you for the lovely message. I will be enjoying time with my siblings and their children. And as they are spread over two islands then that's where I have to go. They won't come to me but it's ok it's an excuse to get out and see them and the places they live in. I've probably passed through Ashburton and Christchurch well I was there 30 years or so ago and at the cinema behind the cathedral I recall watching Rocky Horror Show and throwing bread and rice with my then husband. Yes, looking forward to going home. And i'm also hoping to bring back some feathers to make for a korowai (cloak) which I hope to complete before xmas next year. I could go on but I'll stop here. Will keep you posted. In the meantime, take care of yourself and you too enjoy the moment.

    hey Jenny,Actually the letter was offered by my Palliative care Doctor. And understandably I guess with the type of meds i'm taking. Everyone is different. I'm not only taking my Tamoxifen but also Gabapentin, Targin 10s and 20s and of course panadol rapid. There's another prescription I have to get for pain just in case and its Orynorm. something like that. I guess I can get it just in case.  But hey you take care and with the holidays soon to be here it's nice to just vege out and enjoy the moment. I am so ready for this but I know I'll need a warmer coat as what I have here is not gonna cut it while I'm in Christchurch despite the short stay. It's so hard not to complain and yet how lucky I am for where I live in Beechboro where I have a beautiful park across from my house where my dogs take me for a walk and plus plus neighbours and summers coming so a nice 30 degree summer please. 

    But hey you can get a letter from your oncologist too just to explain the drugs you are carrying with you.

    Once again, have a wonderful holiday and yummy food and drinks.

    Hi Donna, that's wonderful that you are going overseas to visit family. I am also going away at Xmas on a South Pacific cruise and will need to take all my meds with me. My oncologist said it would be fine to go (it was booked before I was diagnosed with ABC) but I am curious that you say you are taking letter from your oncologist. Excuse my ignorance, but is this for customs to clear the drugs etc and in case medical treatment is required whilst you are away? I am wondering now if I should be doing the same for my trip? I hope you have a lovely time enjoy xx
