Anninversary - what is the date?

I'm not sure what date is significant in this whole journey but I am going to go with the date that sticks most in my mind....and I am not sure that it is the correct one, but it is the one the doctor wrote on my paperwork.........4th October.

So I am now rushing away to the 1st anniversary of my diagnosis.

Then there is the first anniversary of my first surgery: 16th October

The first pet scan: 18th October

The first CT scan on my abdomen and chest

and the second surgery: 19th October

and the third surgery: 30th October

then there is the start of the chemo therapy

the finish of the chemo therapy

the start of the radiation

the end of the radiation

So can anyone tell me, do we assume that the last surgery is the day that we were "clear" of cancer and that the chemo and radiation are remedial treatments to ensure that we stay clear?

Therefore the last surgery is the most important date?

I'd be interested in knowing what others use as their anniversary date?

    My anniversary for my BC was the day I was diagnosed as that is the day this whole roller coaster ride really started for me.  There were a few hiccups before that day but that is the true date and will stay in my mind forever.

    Interesting question. I guess most people use their diagnosis confirmation date as their anniversary date. But it is maybe not as significant as other dates for some people. For me I guess in many ways the most significant date was the day I found the lump. Somehow I just knew it was serious even before I saw the doctor. Then there was the morning I got the phone call from the GP's nurse to say the doctor wanted to see me that morning rather than at my appointment in 2 days time. I had had blood tests and other tests as well as the mammogram but I knew it would be the mammogram that was the problem! I'll never forget hearing her say the words "suspicious of malignancy". Then there were the words of the breast surgeon after she had done the biopsy, "I'm really sure that it is cancer, if the tests come back negative I'll think there is something wrong with the test, not that you don't have cancer". It was almost insignificant when she called with the official pathology confirmation a few days later. We were well on the way to preparing for surgery by then. There are so many things that stand out as important when you think back but I guess most people stick with that official diagnosis date. As far as the doctors are concerned that will be treated as the official anniversary date I would think. Deanne
