Why is it always this time of year and on a weekend this stuff happens? Last year I had a clot in a vein in the back of my left eye. Over time it has repaired itself but was very worrying. My vision in the eye that time was like gray snow.Yesterday I thought I would pull a couple of weeds out of the pathway. I only lasted about 5 minutes and I got dizzy and nauseous and ran out of energy so I came inside and in about an hour on a Saturday I had a black furry line in my right eye vision. Through the rest of the day and now on Sunday the black fuzz has increased. No drops are helping so first thing Monday morning I will be going to see if I can see the optometrist specialist. I hope they aren't away for Christmas break yet. It is no good going to the hospital as I tried that last year and they have no specialists for eyes. My mum says the cancer is gone, get out and do the normal things I used to do but every time I do something bad happens so I am going to say at this table with my computer and fan and jigsaw puzzle and not move, it's safer.

I got an appointment with the doctor to check my blood pressure and make sure this eye wasn't anything to do with strokes or anything and that is fine like it always is.The optometrist said my vision is A OK but I have burst a blood vessel behind my eye and some of the blood has mixed in with my eye gel and will take a couple of weeks to come good. There is no retinal detachment even though I do have fairly thin retinas.In light of this I think I may agree with my oncologist and get a test done in six months to see if my menopause is over and change my meds from Tamoxifen to Femara. I may be safer for my eyes.I learned something interesting from my optometrist, why it puts a strain on your eyes and neck to look upwards for a length of time. With no predators from above nowadays, we have stopped using a lot of those eye and neck muscles. :)

I've tried not to one eyed about things now I'm supposed to be a grown up, but I have to say that a post I read today made me look like this. Me having a bung eye pales into insignificance compared to someone who is both fragile and vulnerable being threatened and made miserable by someone they had trusted. Perspective is all. OK, today I quite literally don't have any in one respect but, crikey, there are some members out there who we really need to get behind. Marg x

Oh Brenda I do so feel for you! I just went through s*** with the hospital-acquired antibiotic resistant bladder infection which I brought home with me as a souvenir along with the scars and drains and the rest. Now I am still struggling with decisions about chemo so I am very new to this madness, but I can see that it begins the minute after the diagnosis and probably never ends after that. I feel afraid to go into the garden because the super-strength antibiotics I am on make me dizzy and I am supposed to keep out of the sun. I know exactly what you mean about staying at the table. I am spending as much of today as possible on the sofa with the computer and the television on (but the sound off) in the background. Luckily am in the mountains, beautifully cool, don't need a fan!

I would be visiting the hospital quick smart just to ensure it is not a retinal detachment. The doober treated tbe better. If they suspect they will call someone in.

My eye is still the same, black fuzz in front of my vision and now a spotty sort of a back drop with it. It doesn't hurt and doesn't affect my longer vision but it is tricky sometimes to locate the little white mouse arrow on the screen lately and I also seem to be brushing hair away from my face except its not hair there, its the fuzz in my eye. They didn't prescribe any drops or anything. I should quantify if I haven't already, I don't have high blood pressure, or diabetes, or glaucoma, or cataracts. This seems to be a purely Tamoxifen hiccup.

Bloody long trip to Melbourne for you - and to go for such a reason -argh ! You are a brave soul but as you would say, the cost of these things does give us added strength from somewhere. What us women have to endure ! Roll on Tattslotto, I say (mind you, my $2 per week gambling probably won't do it).
I have had ingrown eyelashes and that was no fun so I congratulate you on what you have done.
Hoping you are feeling more comfortable.

Hats off to you! Toughness comes about from adversity, the school of life and sometimes hard knocks! Here's hoping the pathology report is all good! x

It's not toughness, it's poverty and desperation; I wanted that thing off my face. I had few choices; wait for a spot to come up at the Eye and Ear (months of stress) pay for it (another mortgage, more stress) excavate it myself (messy) or suck it up and pretend I was somewhere else for an hour. I think many would make the same decision.
