  • Becky, that wouldnt be surprising at all! It certainly brings up heaps of stuff, and a million emotions! Glad you finished the Red Devil!!! Now that's a great celebration in itself! Taxol is very different, so day at a time, and youre one day closer to the end of it!! And sooo normal to want to quit, I dont think there is one of us here that can't say we all felt the same. I never thought Id get to the end, but I did, you'll amaze yourself especially 1yr on when you look back! x
  • I think i had a massive anxiety attack too. The menopause symptoms have kicked in due to the zolodex so im in a world of misery now (perfect in the summer heat) it was my last round of red devil. Im on taxol next and hoping its a smoother ride. Was just about ready to quit treatment but thats just crazy talk
  • Becky I remember it well, it's horrible! I was allergic to maxolon so only thing that helped me was Ativan, to relax and somehow took the edge off. Nexium worked it's the best you can use, but depends also on where in your chemo cycle you are. Eating I found horrendous, so ate little and tried to hydrate. Was a nightmare and due to 4.5months of being incredibly sick I was hospitalised through FEC the red devil. On taxol I was bedridden and couldn't even walk to my letterbox in the end, my muscles wasted from inactivity and I put on 6kg, which a year on won't come off. BUT road to recovery has been long but am kicking goals now, thanks to an exercise physiologist, there is life after this, try stay focused, you'll get through it! Hugs Melinda xo
  • The sooner cannabis derivatives  becomes legal for chemo patients the better--will add another weapon to the arsenal which may not set your bowels like concrete. Can't wait to see the results of the trials which are happening right now targeting nausea and general discomfort associated with chemo.
I was that distressed last round through lack of sleep, pain and queasiness I thought I was losing the plot. The thought of doing it all again next week....Stemital stops me heaving and I'm not sure that the main culprit with the sleeplessness on day one and two isn't the steroids. All in all its a shitty process which is why no one wants to do it.
  • I changed to stemitil too made a huge difference maxalon did not do anything for me. I hope it gets sorted for you quickly and you can get some sleep.
    Best wishes xo
  • Get back in touch with your team. There are other anti nausea meds out there. I needed stemitil (for room spins with nausea) and ondasatron and additional days on steroids. It was worth the change.
