Zoladex and CFS

Started tamoxifen in July 2012. Was taken off tamoxifen in March 2015 as I was having a uterus full of cysts really fast and was having D & C surgery each year. Had a break to determine if I was in menopause using blood tests. They say I am not fully in menopause. I turn 50 this year. So am now on Zoladex injections as my hormone treatment. Have been on it since November 2015 I am suffering very strong pain all over. My Gp has given me a 2 week course of prednisone to see if that helps as panadeine and even panadeine forte not completely taking the pain away. I have had CFS with a symptom fibromyalgia for over 10 years now so all my cancer treatment has hit me harder than most others.

I am interested to hear from anyone with experience of Zoladex. I have also noticed an increase in fatigue and a constant headache, nausea occasionally. The overall body pain feels like bone and muscle pain.

  • Hi!  I am on both Tamoxifen and Zoladex.

Zoladex is a monthly injection the abdomen.  I suffer from aching bones, fatigue and generally feeling crappy for the first week or so after an injection.  Tamoxifen, taken daily, I assume is giving me occasional hot flashes.

I've also had the D & C which has given markers for the next round of scans to see if there are any changes.

I too have fibromyalgia but haven't had those symptoms in a long time..........it originally came about after spinal surgery.  Now I do sound like a crock!

Hang in there and hopefully the steroids will help settle some of the discomfort as your body adjusts to the new treatment regime.

    Take care

    Christine xx
