I get my BRCA test results back next week, my oncologist has indicated that even if the results come back negative, she'd like me to consider the surgery anyway.....wow. I'd be interestsed in finding out more about the reconstruction process, obviously it's not an easy process & sounds like it takes quite a bit of time. 

I have my 3rd dose of AC next Friday, I'll get straight into the ice. I have lost most of my taste now. My hair loss happened on day 14, it's almost all gone now except for my level .5 buzz cut.

Hi everyone. and welcome. I was diagnosed in Nov 2012 with BC & had a bi-lateral mastectomy because I have the BRCA 1 gene. Started reconstruction same time with tissue expanders. My chemo was FEC & hair loss was rapid around days 18 . My son gave me a no 1 & when I got home my dad shaved the rest off. I found ICE during chemo day helped my mouth sores but not until round 4 was I told about having ice. My last chemo was on 1st May & on Mothers Day I developed Febrile neuropenia & spent 8 days in hospital.  My hair is steadily growing back ( grey with bit of curl ) my eyebrows & below as well.  I am still having saline breast fills

which I find painful but I also have Fibromyalgia & my surgeon thinks makes the pain worse. Hoping to have implants done by xmas.  I hope this is interesting to some of our new members and welcome to this site. Remember - we are all in this together.  Leanne  Xxx

I didnt get them down my throat, but I switched to salt with bicarb and rinsed about 5 times a day.  I got oral thrush the first time, thats probably what Mich remembers.  I dropped sugar from my diet and never got it back again.  A friend of my into alternative stuff said to mix a teaspoon of cream of tartar into my smoothies for a week, and thats what his girls in his family to for thrush ( I did it,, all of it, it seemed to work).  I lost my hair quickly, and even my eyebrows and lashes went.  So annoying.  Get eyedrops for lubrication if you lose your eyelashes.  There is a special gel you can get from the Pharmacy for mouth ulcers thats behind the counter.  Damn forgotten its name.  I wore a cap to bed to sleep in all the way through, got them from the cancer council, and when the stubble fell out, it didnt go through my bed or pillow.  I am now into my 9th month since the day I found out I had cancer, and my hair is back, about 1 cm long.  Eyebrows and lashes are back! My hair loss was very quick also! I lost ALL my hair on day 14 after my first round of FEC. My eyebrows and lashes held in there until a bit later.

For mouth issues I used a bicab soda and water garle. Tasted pretty yuck but eased and mouth issues. If your throat stays sore it might pay to go to the GP. You dont want to risk infection.

Hi Deanne,

We sound like we're pretty close in out treatments. I'm doing mine at Concord Hospital. Treatment 2 is 25th July. I've changed my treatments from Tuesday to Friday so my hubby can be home with the kids while I hang out in bed. 

Here's to hoping the ulcers ease off & the meds for my next dose make things easier

Hi Mich, My husband said the exact same thing about the chemo working. I've been colouring my hair black & purples since I was 18, I'm looking fwd to seeing what I get when it grows back. Hoping the chemo kills the grey!!!
