YAYAY

I have finished my 30 treatments of radiation. went good as planned but there was some soreness, redness, itchyness and blistering but the breast nurses were great with suggestions to help. Now i have started on Letrosole for 5yrs one a day. I do have a cold and gone to my chest but have antibiotics and lots of rest and sleep. been lucky as it is the first time i have been sick thru my whole treatment besides the tiredness. I am blessed with caring family and friends to help me go through this and people on this site as well to help me with myquestions as sometimes i felt like i didnt want to ask people close to me incase they got upset. good luck to all pople starting their treatments and best of luck  :)

  • Hi, i bet your glad to finish the chemo i was lucky and didnt have chemo. the radiation for me wasnt as bad as i thought. i still did exercise and worked etc. sometimes i got tired but i slept on the weekend and had nana naps lol. QV  worked good but when it got quite a bit red and sore the nurses gave me some dermeze to use which helped a lot with the blistering. cold flannel or cloth soaked in cold water with salt helped with the heat and i stuffed it down my top and walked around the house with it. you are a very strong person doing chemo and then radiation. be proud of yourself for doing that never give up it will be worth it in the end. take care  :)

  • Hi Tansy. i found for the heat: a mixture of 1tspn salt dissolved in 1 ltr hot water put in fridge to cool then place a flannel or cloth in water and place on your breast. the coolness soothed the heat and the salt acts as a antibacteria agains infection. i sometimes put a gel pack in the freezer then wrapped in a cloth and walked around work or home with it down my top lol. It did work. the nurses gave me some cream called dermeze which helped with the blistering. then when i finished treatment the redness cleared up good and i used QV which helped with the dryness a lot. good luck on finishing the treatment. so far with the letrozole i havent had any side effects yet ive only been on 3wks i assume i have to give it a bit of time to get into my system but i will let you know.  take care :)
