Yay for anniversaries!

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a little milestone with you.  Last week was the 2 year anniversary of the launch of this website, AND therefore also the 2 year anniversary of this online network being born!

I want to take the opportunity to thank all of you for the supportive and welcoming way that you all participate in this network, and the many, many times you (individually and collectively) jump in to welcome new members and help out those experiencing stressful or tough times.

Some stats for those who like numbers

Over the last two years we have had:

  • 444,142 visits
  • 2.2 million page views!
  • 6,043 members join the online network
  • 98 groups
  • 3,026 blog posts
  • 400 Local Service Directory listings added (and growing!)

And of course, these aren't just numbers. They reflect the very real support, information and encouragement given by all of you to each other.

So how do you all feel as 2-year-old bloggers? :)  And yes, that's a half-way serious question, so if you'd like to share your thoughts about what the online network and website mean to you in the comments, I'd love to hear.

Cyber cake and hugs to all of you, and cheers for the coming year!

Di

  • Congratulations on the 2 year anniversary of BCNA. I only wish I had signed on last year when I first got my diagnosis and had the mastectomy , chemo, radiation etc. The whole journey would have been that much better, if I had shared with and learnt from all of you beautiful ladies out there. This time round, I am so grateful to bcna and the website, for providing us with this outlet from the rigors of hospital and friend enforced bedrest, to chat with others out there in similar situations. Keep up the good work. Is BCNA active on Twitter? I am tweeting everyday about my breast cancer journey experience and the parallel between #mylifeayearago and #mylifetoday if anybody wishes to follow @SoniaWhite48 Cheers Sonia

  • Oh! Congratulations on the results, that's great to hear! :)

I'm so glad you're enjoying the network. You're a great contributor, Tonya, so thanks for helping to make it the welcoming place it is.

  • Hahaha!  I'll tell you a secret -- it's a little bit like that in my house, too. ;)

You've been involved almost since the beginning, Leonie, so special thanks and hugs to you for your unflagging commitment.

  • Thanks to you, too, for your input, Annie.  Happy anniversary! :)

  • I'm so glad that the site's been helpful, and thanks to you for your contributions. It's great to be able to do something so useful without leaving the house, right? ;)

  • Wow! Those statistics are pretty impressive.Just goes to show what a terrific online network this is.Would you believe I  had my 2yr post breast cancer anniversary last week and my mammogram was all clear.I will forever remember the birth date of BCNA online network! Di,you and your colleagues do a fabulous job.It is such a worthwhile service. We get support from women ahead of us (or going through with us) on the bc journey and we don't feel so alone. Then, inturn,we give comfort back to others coming through.

A big "thank you"to all the staff at BCNA and to all the women on this site who have so generously shared their stories.

                                     love Tonya xx

  • THANK YOU to all of the staff who began this service for us, and for staff like you Di, who help us out anyway you can.

I don't know if you really have any idea how much you guys help us, with hosting this site and the informationa nd encouragement you give us, but in case you don't a HUGE personal Thank You from me to you all.

To me this site has been a life saver (and probably saved the sanity of my husband and treating medical team) becasue i can ask here first if something is normal,or weird etc. and I can get the experience of other women who have been there and done that. the mental and emotional support if sanity saving and being ablet o maybe help someone else who needs it, help to make me feel needed (especially when usually at home the most I can manage some days is to get my self to the toilet and a drink).

so HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and a HUGE THANK YOU (to staff, site and fellow users). ????????
