Xeloda side effects?

Hi, Is there anyone on Xeloda? I am starting on it as of tomorrow, and would like to know what to to expect regarding side affects. I have been on Afinitor and Aromasin which stopped working. I have bone mets in my spine, liver & the lining of the lung. I am so anxious at the moment. Cheers, Desiree
  • Hi Robyn You definitely not out of line. Thanks for the advise, I agree with you,I know we all experience different symptoms. Will keep you posted. Thanks again Cheers Desi
  • Forgot to tell you that my hair has grown back while being on xeloda which I am thrilled about.
  • I hope I am not out of line with what I am going to say,but I suggest you listen to your oncologist Desi,as I feel that sometimes blog posts are written without the person actually having any experience with what they are talking about.I don't take Xeloda, and I would never write anything about side effects without really knowing. These posts seem to be appearing randomly today,on all sorts of posts.Cheers xxxRobyn
  • Thanks Wendy, it makes me feel so much better, even though everyone is different. I first had breast cancer in 2006, forgot to add that I have it in my skull as well. This has been so helpful. Thanks Desiree
  • Hi Desiree

I have been on Xeloda for 12 months now.

I think with any chemo drug you will get some side effects.  My side effects are mainly tiredness & dry, soles  of my feet & hands. My feet become a bit painful towards the end of each cycle but improve when each cycle finishes & I have a weeks break.  I have found massaging my feet & hands with MooGoo cream from the health food shops the most helpful.  The good news is that so far Xeloda has kept my cancer stable during the last 12 months that I have been on it. I had breast cancer 16 years ago now.  It came back 2 years ago in my skull bones, neck, spine, ribs, & pelvis.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment.  Wendy 67
