WOW this is all so new to me.

Well this is a new experience for me, having to learn patience.

It seems since I got that phone call telling me a mass had been detected in my mammogram I have had to be patient.

This is not easy for a contril freak like me, everything in my life runs to my order, well not any more. It seems now I have tests, wait, get results, wait for my doctor, wait for my specialist, wait for surgery and now I am eaiting on results.

Seems I picked a bad time of year to be diagnosed, silly me.

  • Hi Donna

Yeah Christmas time sucks. Diagnosed 21/12/12

I hope your care is now progressing. That 2 weeks wait is not good especially when you need to be in control.

Sadly there is a saying that when you come into a hospital, control and dignity fly out of the window. that is not to say that you have no say, just that timing and other aspects of your care  revolve around others; when you have appointments, treatments and so on.

I have resolved that this year for me is about trying to go with the flow. Keep control of what you can. Your emotions, your feelings, your family and your home and friends. What you lose with the BC  side of things, make up for yourself in other ways. Dedicate an hour a day of your life to what you want. be selfish. Be happy

Take care and good luck with the rest of your journey

  • Thank-you Leanne,

I am overwelmed by the support on this sites, its fantastic and I admit that until I was diagnosed I had no understanding as to exactly what help is out there.

I appreciate all the kind words and am feeling very hopful for Tuesdays news, fingers and toes crossed it will be good news.

  • Hi Kathy,

thanks for your good wishes and support it is really appreciated.

I have done loads of reading and research over the christmas/new year break so am going into this well and truely informed.

I am feeling disgustingly rested at present but know that I need that going into the next phase.

I'll post next week with my results.

    cheers

  • Thank-you for your good wishes, I am staying positive and its only a few more days and I will get my results back.

I am impressed at all the support and information out there for us all and my family and friends have been awesome in their support of me.

I am also hanging to get back to work but that one just may have to be taken in baby steps.

I'll post on Tuesday after my results.

    cheers

  • True,  I agree with you.

     One step at a time.

Lean on someone if you need to; asking for help is ok.

We all like to be " in control '..but sometimes life throws you something out of your control. We really do not need to think that far ahead. Deal with reality if you can. Experiencing Loss, Grief, Fear, Anger, Sadness etc.. is normal under the circumstances, so go with it. There is help if you need it; be that talking, reading up on information or  taking medication..for BC and / or from side effects, etc.

Have Faith you will be treated with the latest researched treatments for your particular breast cancer, but also listen to your own body and what is needs and how it is dealing with things. It can be a very daunting prospect, but time passes and hopefully you will get through it all.

Best of luck with it all,

    Kathy.

  • Hey mgndam

I know what you mean about picking a bad time of the year. Everyone is on holidays. It is like everything stops for a part of Dec/Jan. I managed to get one of my surgeries in on 23rd December just over 12 months ago before Xmas and was pretty much kicked out of my bed so everyone could have their Xmas party and then start their holidays who worked in the ward I was in. I then had a huge waiting game until everyone returned from holidays. It wasn't a good time.

Patience is definitely something you have to learn I am afraid. It is a tough time you are going through right now you poor luv.

I will keep everything crossed that it is all good results that you receive. Keep in touch.
