Whether to bone scan or not

Morning all. Over the past few weeks, I have been having some numbness in my thigh when Im sleeping and it has been hanging around a bit through the day. I have always had trouble with lumbar pain but also have some upper spine discomfort.
GP said he is unconcerned, thinks maybe an irritated nerve, howevwr has given me a referral for a bone scan for peace of mind.  We are booked to go on a little holiday with daughter and her family and just knowing this has been suggested has made her really anxious. ( I also have something going on with uterus and need yo return for extra scans the day before we go on holidays) . I just hate stressing my family any more than i need to. Just not sure whethwr to go do it before holiday and if bad news then i have wrecked everyone's holiday,or leave it and see how i am on a couplr of werks and do it when i get back. GP didnt seem concerned. Thoughts ????
PS i have also recently startwd lexapro and have seen tingling and numbness
can be a side effect of that!
  • Yep, I'd be going for the bone scan .... it gives you a 'picture as of now' for comparison any time further down the line ....

All the best for the scan & enjoy your Hols!  xx

Will be thinking of you @Michelle B. I’m sure you’ll get the all clear and then you can relax and enjoy your holiday. x
  • Hi Rose18,
Thanks for your reply and sound advice. I have an appointment for Wednesday! Fingers crossed all wull be okay.
As always it is more the worry of burdening our families thank dealing with it ourselves.
I will definitely take your advice ,close my eyes and go somewhere nice in my mind. I have had one body scan before, the morning of my surgery and apart from being anxious was okay.
Thanks again for your support, nice to talk to those that truly understand where we are coming from.
    Take care, Michele x

@Michelle B I would have the scan for peace of mind. You’ll enjoy your trip when you get the all clear. Worst case scenario, you have got onto it early and can deal with it. I had a spot on one of my scans and had a whole body scan earlier this year. It was stressful, but once I booked in I could hand it over to the doctors to find out. I got the all clear and I hope you get good news back too. I’ve had 3 whole body scans in total. Remember to keep your eyes closed during the scan and visualise a place you love to be. This will help.

I know exactly how you feel. Your family is probably more stressed by the what if’s and your well-being than any holidays or scans. x
