Where to stay clsoe to The Royal Womens Hospital In BRISBANE!!

Hi Again

Just wondering can anyone help me out.

I need to know of some family accommodation close to the Royal Womens Hospital in Brisbane that will be child friendly as I have 2 little ones a 2 and a half yr old and a 9 month old baby.

At my appointment yesterday I was basically told we dont have a social worker in this section so they tried to get another from another area to help out but he basically just shunned me off.

Wasnt his section not his problem !!! The place they have said is available really isnt child friendly as it has such an extra big set of stairs not just your average flight !!!

Would prefer it to walking distance if you know of any that are good and you can prepare your own meals etc there it would be very very much appreciated for any suggestions as I am at a loss to where my faince kids and mum can stay while im in hospital. Than I have to stay close by for follow ups they have said due to how far we live away from Brisbane this is what needs to happen for the first 7 days.

    My name is Katie and I am a Policy Officer at BCNA. I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had a good exeperience in finding accomodation for yourself and your children when you are at the Royal Women's in Brisbane. 

    My suggestion is to contact the Cancer Council Helpline in Queensland, as they can help in a wide range of areas, including accomodation and support, while you are undergoing your treatment.

    In Queensland they are open from 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday and can be contacted on 13 11 20 (the cost is a local phone call). 

    Cancer Council Queensland, also has  accomodation options for those who have to travel from a regional area for treatment, which may be of interest to you. To find out more about the options in Brisbane, the following website may help http://www.cancerqld.org.au/page/need_support/support_during_treatment/accommodation

    Hi Michelle,

    The Welfare worker I had when I was down there for radiation was very helpful, but I think they have different ones for different drs. or areas I suppose. She tried to get accommodation, but I ended up staying with my daughter, and got transport into the hospital. That was really good as I wouldn't have liked to stay there by myself.  Can't help you with places close to there as I can't remember their names sorry , when we dropped people of or picked them up on the transport.
