I’m booked in for chemo from next week and have been told I’ll def lose my hair. I’m not flush with $$ and am happy (at the moment) to wear headwear. I was told I would likely lose it quickly. Is there a place I can buy them in Adelaide that anyone knows of? Or so I have to order off the internet?

I can't help with Adelaide, I am sorry, but I found Head Covers (it's a Canadian firm) good, not too expensive and very quick to deliver - everything as I had ordered. The soft "straw" hats were great (with summer coming) and I still wear them! www.headcovers.com. ;Most people find hair goes within 2 weeks of your first chemo, give or take a day or so. Your scalp may get tingly, or sore beforehand as the hair follicles are affected. It made losing my hair easier as I didn't like the feel of it at all (it looked OK though). I got it cut very short before it started falling - less mess! Best wishes.

I'm not a huge fan of wigs and have never worn one before this but they're great for when you want to go under the radar. Scarves are really easy to tie - there's complicated designs but I've kept with the simple. Using a long rectangle (it has to be wide enough to cover your head)...start by centring it across the front covering a little of your forehead. Take the sides down and tie (half knot) at the back of your head then bring the ends back around to the front, twisting them as you do it. Tie again over your forehead then, still twisting, take the ends back and tuck them under the first twisted parts. Or you can tie it slightly lopsided and either tuck the final ends so you have more of a bulge on one side, or let them hang free.Lot's of vids on YouTube.

Hi @wren71 You will probably find also that your breast care nurse will have a stash for those that want them, I know my BC nurse had a box in her office and asked me if I would like some. I had already got some scarves and a couple of beanies though. Just a thought anyway. Also you will find local cancer support organisations like my local one of "Audrey Angels of Hope", actually rung me to see if I needed anything. Like headgear, knitted boobs etc. There are so many amazing people out there. Yesterday out of the blue they dropped off a bunch of flowers plus some organic Goji Juice and vitamins and I live out of town talk about putting some sunshine in my day. xox Katie

@Harvey1903 had the details for lovely soft little caps from Jas they were great for around the house and I still wear them to bed.
I picked up about 4 scarves from Kmart at $9 each I think and every time I wear them people comment how good they look.
My sister also went to Spotlight and got some material and we cut it to length ( didn’t even see it as the edges are hidden in the knot) and got some great patterns and designs for about $5 each.

@Harvey1903 I checked through the products and a number were on sale so I bought 7 items (6 hats) for $100 which meant free shipping. They look good qualify- fingers crossed and I’m set for summer :-).
