Chemo headwear ideas…

Hey. So mum’s going through TC and whilst cold cap helping it wasn’t as well fitted the first cycle and she’s very self conscious of the thinning and loss of her hair, though it’s bare noticeable as someone looking at her unless looking closely and aware of it.
The look good feel better program sounds fabulous but she’s hesitant about online sessions (extremely concerned Re cybersecurity) and I’m not great with tying scarves each around the head which she wants help with. She has some beanies but the weather is warming up and her skin is sensitive. She wants to avoid wigs if possible and I know there’s a variety of places now with premade designs for headwear, like caps that can be worn under a hat, but I’m not sure the best style of webstore to look at especially on a budget. Smooth or ruffled? Tied like bandana or beanie style with soft and light fabric? Any ideas or suggestions for where to start? I know she’s unlikely to look with me and she’s a foggy at the moment and fatigue increasing as the cycles progress and the meds for pain/nausea throw her around (she called me to describe symptoms and ask which version of med to take early in the morning so even basic things including if she wants tea or not are difficult right now) so I’m trying to arrange things for her. Ideas would be much appreciated.
on the upside, the early intervention appears to have reversed the lymphoedema so that’s one positive to boost us.
Thanks ladies 🌺🐾
  • Hi not sure what city you are in but I am in Sydney and Leila 0’Toole has some excellent headwear as well as bras and swimming costumes for breast cancer patients.
  • Peter Mac hospital in Melbourne has a volunteer centre and they have some head wear made by volunteers they offer to patients.

I did get some headware online (ebay).  Some was definitely better than others.   I did get some good quality ones from USA.  Postage was expensive but they looked fashionable and lasted well.  They were made from bamboo and were soft and cooling for hot summer days.
  • I bought items online from Headcovers - it’s a Canadian firm but the delivery was rapid and costs reasonable. I was very happy with the quality.
