Update on Totally Devastated

Thank you to all you wonderful ladies who sent well wishes to my sister and I. My sister Christine saw another oncologist last Monday 8th Feb . This lady couldn't believe her previous oncologist she had for the uterine cancer grade 3 didn't give her chemotherapy! He thought she had grade 1 all that time treating her until he looked up her notes 2 weeks ago  and read the pathology report which stated grade 3! She also never had a CT scan of her body before she was given the all clear by him. This should have been done too the new oncologist said, too late now. Maybe if it was done , she wouldn't be going through this heartache.  She  started her on chemo last Friday to try to shrink the 6 cancers in her lungs.  She's not doing very well with the chemo and is not well. She's in pain most of the time and has stomache ache most of the time . Any suggestions girls ??? Tried mersyndol and heat packs , panadeine, baths,  Panadol and endone. She's tried sleeping pills but the pain wakes her up. Also anyone know what brand of shampoo she can use with the Cold Cap?? Her husband is looking after her but he's not a good nurse, but he's trying.  I'm going there in March after my sons next treatment for Chrohns. Any help or suggestions are most welcome ladies. Thanks Beppie xx

  • Not sure as I have never tried it on the stomach but by literature it is supposed to work for stomach aches as well. Mix ginger oil with olive oil (one drop ginger to 5 olive) and rub it on the tummy. My oncology nurse has me rubbing it on my arm to increase circulation so she can find my vein easier next time. Its supposed to increase circulation and is even good for the spider veins on ankles to get rid of them.
  • So sorry to hear what your sister is going through and the issues she is facing with her chemo.

for shampoos during cold caps, I'm using Dermaveen , they have no chemicals and are paraben and sulphate free, they need to very gentle to the hair. I also use a corresponding conditioner from the same range. I only wash my hair once a week .

  • So sorry to hear all that your sister has had to endure.

i can't help you with what to try to ease the pain but can only tell you to take it one day at a time. Has the oncologist given any recommendations? Is she able to take panadol/codeine. Can be bought over the counter but it's not as strong as the prescription ones obviously.

i wish you all the very best and sending you hugs.

    Linda xx
