Upcoming oncology appt

Lethargy bouts have taken over the last couple of days after me feeling "fine" so Superwoman has officially left the building for a while and yesterday the Blob took up residence on the couch as I watched dvds - with an attention span the length of a newt mind you.

Today my partner accompanied me in another round of getting the "correct" medical certificate for Centrelink and picking up a few "essentials" (including chocolate) before vegie back on the couch until I go a call from the oncology department with my first consult next week - the same day that my parents arrive.  Haven't seen my specialist yet (that is Friday) but as he referred me, I am taking it that he's seen the pathology results so things are moving again.

Don't really know what to expect from these upcoming two appointments - questions are starting to be answered but I still have a lot of what I guess are "unanswerable" questions.

  • Aaah, the healing power of chocolate and DVDs!! Definitely time to regather and recover before your next step forward. You'll know more by Friday, and like Tracey said, take your notebook and a friend / partner & look over the my journey kit with its list of suggested questions etc as these might help you to think about the questions you need to ask your specialists.

In the meantime, enjoy those DVDs and choccies :-) Jane xx

Nice to see that Superwoman has temporarily hung the cape up, and put the undies on the inside of the pants. Sometimes you need the chocolate and DVD moments to rest and think / process. I know that I went through a phase where I thought that I could beat it all, and tried to be too tough. I've since learned to pace myself, the positive attitude has been maintained, but I'm far more realistic. I just take it 1 appointment at a time, and ask lots of questions. I always take my hubby as he picks up on the things that I miss. I take a notepad with my questions with me, and this helps to prompt me when with the doctor, as it can be overwhelming. I wish you the very best with your upcoming appointments, it will give you a better idea of what you are up against. Sending you a wonder woman cuddle xxx Trace ????

  • Hi Lunanoire,

Enjoy the DVDs girl!  I especially liked revisiting old favourites where I knew the lines (story line was too familiar) & it didn't matter if I nodded off as well.

    Be kind to yourself

  • It sounds like Superwoman needs to gather her energy for the upcoming appointments.  She will return when you find out more.  In the meantime enjoy your movies, gather your strength and look forward to your folks coming to visit.  Good luck.  Maureen
