@kmakm Thanks for your story. You poor thing, why am I not surprised you have a thyroid condition along with everything else you have had to endure. Sounds like your thyroxine is keeping your levels normal & if I end up having radioactive iodine to have my thyroid shrunk, then I will be on thyroxine forever as over active thyroid will then be under active!! I was on medication for over 20 years but was then taken off but a few years later, it has returned. Interesting that your function hasnt changed with all you've been through. yes, thyroid probs are quite common among us but it does seem like there are many controversies & differing opinions out there depending on which doc you speak to. xx
@Scaredycat Sounds like you have had many battles with your thyroid but great to hear that since your surgery, you have felt much better. I am very interested to see what is my next step & I reckon it depends on which doc you speak to! It took the doctors ages to even diagnose my condition. I couldn't even go into a heated building as I would faint & my hubby had to sit in the bathroom while I had a shower as I would faint then also. I agree that thyroid probs are very interesting & often perplexing to many doctors!!xx
@primek Another Graves disease sufferer!! Very interesting to hear yours returned for the 3rd time around bc time. Are you on your medication forever now & has that stabilised your condition? i was on propythiouruacil for around 20 years but it can be quite toxic to your liver & you're only supposed to be on it for a short time!! Around 3 years ago, the endo took me off it & my blood was fine for a few years until now. I am booked in for a thyroid scan in a few weeks & then i see another doctor to discuss my results & a path moving forward. i will mention your medication to him instead of the drug I was on & see if that is a better path than having the radioactive iodine to shrink the gland completely. I will take along all my blood tests & tell him about my neutropenia & Vit D levels & see what this doctor has to say. Thanks for your feedback. xx
