Treatment starts Monday

Hi everyone,

Last bloods etc today and visit to oncologists, treatment starts on Monday 23rd.  I will have Docetaxel/Cyclophosphamide, 4 rounds with herceptin. Now it is very real and I know it won't all be smooth sailing, but I know I can always come here to chat to people who know, which is such a comfort.  I was told today I have a very positive attitude I will try and keep it and do it day at a time.

Cheers Jen ?? ??

  • Good luck Jen! I recently finished the same treatment and will be starting the radiotherapy part of my journey on the same day!

I would advise to take Robyn's advice and start taking something  to prevent the constipation before it happens! I didn't get the pre-warning and it wasn't a fun ride.

I also got crazy weird cravings, very unlike me! Remember to keep your fluids up, it really does help to flush the chemo drugs out of your system as quick as you can and help keep your blood pressure steady. My taste buds changed dramatically but keep eating lots of healthy veggies etc regardless, even when you don't feel like eating, it helps the body bounce back better in-between rounds!

Stay strong, chemo will be over before you know it! Much love xxxx

  • Hi Robyn,

I sure will have a read of your blog, it is great that we can get online and learn so much and get support. I have been writing things down too, took my trusty little book yesterday to put it all on paper but they printed out everything for me at the hospital. I will keep in touch.

    Thank you Robyn

    Cheers Jen ?? ?? x

  • Thank you Trace,

The nurses were lovely yesterday, we were having a joke cause my hubby is bald and we were having a laugh about comparing bald heads soon ? They are special ladies for sure aren't they. Take care.

  • Hello Jen,I had the same chemo as you,2 years ago now.It was nowhere near as bad as I feared. Each round, days 5 to about 10 were the worst.Fatigue, skin rashes( stock up on Zyrtec incase) dry skin( moo goo cream) constipation was terrible( take the meds they give you BEFORE it starts) and I had terrible food cravings at all different times of day!! Feel free to read my blog posts from 2 years ago.I tried to document everything so as it might help someone further down the track.Oh one more thing,I had my head shaved 4 days before chemo started, and on day 14, all the prickly bits left, started to fall out.My eyebrows came out on this day too! Please stay in touch on here for support:):) Cheers Robyn xox
