Well, tomorrow is D day!! 8am at the radiologist for the dye and guide wire placement, then over to the hospital to wait for surgery. They ran today to say I'm to fast from midnight so hoping that i'm on a relatively late morning or early afternoon surgery list (wide local excision and sentinel node removal). AND my period has decided after two months to arrive. (for goodness sakes, cant catch a trick at the moment) Hopefully it wont be too bad tomorrow (the period not the surgery) So please hit me up with your hints and tips and send a little prayer that i get to go home. They have noted down I am to be sent to the ward afterwards (my bp's been a tad high so I'm not overly hopeful) And if someone can explain exactly what I'm to do with my lovely pillow from the zonta ladies, that would be awesome. Donna. All the best for tomorrow. Had the same op on 15th January. Removal 7mm cancer, 2 lymph nodes removed (no cancer there).Now 6 weeks Radiation. Zonta pillow so comfy for your armpit. ??????????????

So i put it under the armpit like a horseshoe? I really should have asked this LOL

Donna that little pillow will become your best friend for a while. I used mine in bed so my arm didn't rest on tender breast and after a few days could lie on that side using the pillow. Have seen some women tie it over shoulder & wear it like a handbag when they are out. Came in handy to protect my sore boob from seatbelt too. Only tip for hospital is don't go home till you are ready. See how you cope with anaesthetic, pain killers & drains before rushing home & soldiering on. This is the time to be kind to yourself. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for you, Trace??

Good luck tomorrow, I don't think you will be going home. Yep pillow goes under your armpit. It dosen;t rain it pours getting your period. If you stay overnight try and rest while you can xx

Rest and take your time to recover - no prizes for going home too soon. Enjoy your little Zonta baby, I'm still quite attached to mine.

Hope all went well for you today Donna I will be thinking of you. I got the cushion too, the breast care nurse said you can also use it as a teddy bear.

I will be having the dye & a mastectomy next Wednesday, not looking forward to it but want it gone.

oops forgot to mention the comfy bra that was given to me by the breast care nurse, was perfect post op and wore it for at least 2 weeks day and night after surgery

Donna, hope its all going well for you today.

I had a similar procedure in late November. early morning for me too to do the dye for sentinel node biopsy, it did sting for about 1minute but all was tolerated after that. Had to massage the boob for about 5 minutes and then wait for the dye to travel, mine traveled very quickly so within 20 minutes that were scanning me and pinpointing the spot.

My procedure was at around midday and i was in theatre for 40 minutes. I had a 9mm tumour taken out with no node involvement which could not be felt my me or my surgeon.

i was in recovery for about 1.5 hours and then in the ward for a few hours and was discharged at 5pm to go home. Given some panadeine forte to take home if i needed it but i felt fine, just tired from the long day. My recovery was very quick.

Hi Donna,

i had my op 15/7/15 so I have finished active treatment. The pillow is an enigma! But it is nice to prop a book up on.

i felt pretty good after operation but used a lot of ice on the boob. I was in hospital for 2 nights that was long enough for me.

I got my periods too before I went to hospital what a bugger than I got them again for 12 days with first chemo! My hormones just don't want to give up!

i hope your lymph nodes and margins are clear, this is a BC blessing.

Oh and also got my period the day of my surgery, it completely stopped during surgery and I didn't get it again for 2 and a half months :)

Hi Donna, I had exactly what you have written. You will be a little sore around your armpit and the little pillow is a blessing for that :) let us know how you went xxx

Donna, wishing all goes well..... yes that little pillow will be your best friend, I still sleep with mine 3 months after surgery, breast and arm pit still a little tender. Chriss xx
