ah I can't believe the day is nearly here! Tomorrow nice and early at 645am I'm being admitted for my bilateral mastectomy and expanders. I was feeling a bit nervous until now but now I'm absolutely terrified! I'm not terrified of the actual operation and being under GA but more about the road to recovery after and the pain. At least my op is early so it's over and done with. Im not one to leave the house without my wig and even when going to chemo I'd still go with it on. But tomorrow I don't care, I'm going with my scarf on and no makeup , looking ugly and all.

Dear @Cynth6 one step closer to being cancer free tomorrow. The road to recovery is one well trodden by many and you will get thru it as they have with great support from medicos and your mates on this blog. I don't think you'll be ugly without your wig and makeup but if it makes you feel that way then maybe you should reconsider. Will be thinking of you tomorrow morning and sending you big hugs .

Ugly? Not possible. Courage and determination are beautiful and downright sexy. You've set your course and you will get where you're heading. You sound ready for anything. Best wishes and keep that bald head high!!

You will be carefully cocooned with analgesics to minimize discomfort - they are very experienced people in this field and will do their utmost to protect you whilst you recover as they have done for so many of us. Feel safe in their hands.

All the very best for your surgery tomorrow @Cynth6. They are usually very good with post surgery analgesia so hopefully you will be in happy land for a while afterwards. Hi @Cynth6 , so glad you're doing well. If it helps when you have a shower hang the drain bags on the shower taps - just makes it that bit easier but remember to take them off the taps when you go to leave :o. Also if your drains swing or move around too much get some micropore tape (nurse can give it to you) and add extra tape to keep them stable - hurts less! Xx Cath

Sending angels of peace, love, healing, courage and strength. <3 Im in for the 6 month test and appointments early October and hope all is clear, but one foot in front of the other when need be. Some days are diamonds, others rough cut gems. wishing you sparkles for a speedy and FULL recovery. :) <3

I've been lucky enough that the lady next to me got discharged this morning so I have the whole room to myself. Hopefully they don't get someone in that spare bed ☺️

Hi @Tasneem yes actually I got one last night from the breast care nurse. And I shove them in my little bag To go to the bathroom and when I'm in my bed. It's soo much easier.

Hi Cynth6, hope you are doing well. I went through surgery a little over two weeks ago. The social worker who visited me gave me a lovely cloth bag to put all those drain tubes in. That was really convenient as I had my bag hanging on my shoulder with all the tubes inside. You may be able to get one too or if you have one at home, it might relieve you just a little bit.

Best wishes! I managed to put my drains in my dressing gown pockets to avert tripping and ripping, but I only had 2!

@Cynth6 great to hear you're doing well. Yes the drains are annoying, but they're helping get rid of that nasty fluid! Keep resting and enjoy the pain relief! Xxxxx
