To shave or not .....

Hi ladies, I have finished my active treatment and am on herceptin and Arimidex. My hair has started to grow back...white  fluff really! I have heard that I should shave this off and it might grow thicker.I dont know what to do and am hoping that some of you might of heard of this or is it an old wives tale?

Hoping that no one is getting too tired with the build up to Christmas . Regards Hilary x

  • When I had BC in 2009 I kept going to the hairdresser and getting my hair styled and shaped when it grew back to 1-2cms. I never got curls. Just kept a short layered look which I ended up really liking and kept a longer version of it. So I recommend cutting as soon as possible. Not shave necessarily, just shaping. Probably depends on your genes too, whether you get curls or not?

  • Thanks Leonie, it seems strange to shave off such hard fought for hair..... but this stuff that is growing looks like rabbit fur LOL . Hope you are travelling well Hilary x

  • Yes you heard correctly.  I was given the same advice when my "white fluffy stuff" started to appear on my head.  My husband shaved it all off for me and I now have a very thick head of curly hair.  From my experience it worked a treat - I didn't particularly want the "bum fulff".  My hair is very curly and I use product to keep it all together.  I am not going to have a haircut in the hope that it will finally start to "fall" downwards someday.  Very tight curls but apparently our "curls" disappear after a couple of years!!!!!  XLeonie
