thrombosis

Masectomy is 5 weeks past, seroma has been drained 4 times, 3 lots of antibiotics for SMALL wound infection now a thrombosis that extends from my pelvis to ankle, completing occluding vessel in most places, partly in others. Leg is swollen, really hurts and now I have found out that the Tamoxifen contributes to thrombosis!!!!!

I had to negotiate with doctor to be released from hospital, have to give myself Clexane injections twice a day and take Warfarin.

Is there much else that can occur!!!! I know I am whingeing but this seems so bloody endless!!!

    Apparently the thrombosis is caused by the Tamoxifen so they have taken me off it and put me on AIs now which have a different set of side effects. And the hot flushes have built up again in intensity from the new drugs!

     

    My breast cancer nurse refuses to drain more than once per week, promotes infection and more fluid build up other wise. It was really uncomfortable for the first 4 weeks after masectomy but I am now approaching week 6 and it feels much better (leg pain has taken over).  Try to get through with the seroma for as long as you can before draining it.

    This explains everything in detail in layman terms but with heaps of details, it has become my BIBLE.

    It cost me approx $40 with postage on Ebay, some libraries have it too.

    Never seems to end, doesnt it????

    My husband's GP was adamant that my husband go back to work asap and stay active.  My husband is a Supervisor in the construction industry.  He is always way too busy as work - up and down ladders, climbing on scaffolding etc.  His leg gets really sore when he overdoes it.  It has to be a happy medium.  Active and resting.     Thanks!   GP has told me that I can move about as much as pain will let me, although all my nursing books say bed rest. being me, I go for the move abput option, does this concur with what has been recommended to your husband. Also, I am unsure if they will change the tamoxifen to something else considering it is a contributer, have surgical check up appointment at hospital tomorrow so will check then

    Pain in the bum!!! (leg actually).
