Well troopers, this is so bloody annoying and the last straw, I hope! Today 14 weeks after last chemo treatment my big toenails fall off! It is the things that treatment takes from you that you have to keep reminding yourself that your life is worth all these inconveniences. hang in there all this little biggy is staying home, under the air con it so hot! Or is it the tamoxifen I will never know. Kim

Such bad luck, I was so grateful all my nails stayed put (even if they did go black, brown, grey and chalk white!). As you say not such a big thing in the scheme of things, but it's the small things that are somehow harder. Almost certainly the last hoorah of the chemo, so good luck and best wishes for a rapid re growth!

I keep rubbing my hands and toes in as the skin is coming off them. Hoping I don't get any infections or lose nails. Absolutely no sun for me on nails. Just visited the neighbour down the road with my full shoes on and my brolly with both arms tucked up on the handle out of the sun. Looks a little odd but then most of my neighbours are finding out I am odd any way lol.

I just wear joggers outside. Yep I am doing well for the last week before the next chemo dose. Its getting old fast.

@Brenda5 you have been though the mill! My finger nails are much thinner then they us to be but nearly normal. I hope your toe nails stay put, new ones can be very painful. Hang in there.

I had my last Chemo end of March and my finger and toe nails have almost grown out of the chemo lines on them. I have to be careful of the last weak bits as they can break off very easily. Can't wait till they are all grown out and good again.

Just an update on feet. Toe nails have grown back but they are ingrown with corns under the nails. I have gone to the podiatrist she has eased the pain chopped them out a bit. She advised the neuropathy in my feet can be treated with peppermint foot cream to fool you that they have feeling. I find this very beneficial at night. I have been known to use Vicks if I need something stronger.

Head up, when you think that is over a little more of you falls away! I was renewing the black nail polish , and the smaller Tor nails came off with the polish. I think my fingers have been better preserved because of the cold gloves, just the top laminate seems to be effected , so I keep them glued together with polish. Why don't the hospitals have feet cold packs as well? Or do some hospital do? My feet are still tender and numb around toes. The surgeon says I will be fine by August! August!!! Bloody hell that is another 5 months to go.

Hi Kim,

Know how you feel my friend, 3 weeks after my last chemo and my fingertips are so sore and looks like I too will loses a few nails, seems we lose a lot with this bc don't we. I was going great with the positive attitude from the beginning but the last few weeks have taken it's toll, think we get tired after chemo, have a weeks grace before rads woo pee. We will get there mate.

Hi Emma, I start tamoxifen mid November too. I haven't had hot flushes but I am not coping with the summer heat very well. Air con going flat out today. I finished chemo than started tamoxifen, then radiation so it is hard to tell when one thing finishes and the other starts! A bit confused and dizzy but improving.

I know how you feel Kim. It was weeks after I had finished my chemo that my beautiful fingernails started to lift and snap off, all I could think was seriously, now...give a girl a break!

When did you start the Tamoxifen? I think my hot flushes during the day are not as bad as in the beginning (I started in November) but the night sweats are still waking my up every couple of hours.

Definitely hang in there!
