Interesting topic. It brings out the weird and wacky in people.
My mum, who I used to think had her head screwed on quite well, once told me about the 'miracle cure' of the child of a friend of a friend (there were a lot of people in between her and the child). The 'cure' was mass prayer, and I'm not bagging prayer, but I couldn't believe that she was convinced any of this story was true without first-hand information. She seemed equally surprised that I wasn't amazed.
I have a magnet on my fridge that says 'Did you eat a bowl of stupid for breakfast?'. My threshold for saying that to people has dropped dramatically since this bc nonsense.
