Hi Everyone

I feel I should write a post to all you most brilliant ladies. For the past 6 weeks I have been logging on and following all your posts and I am feeling I have become part of a big family of lovely ladies. You have all helped me through the most emotional time of my life. Today is 14 days after my first chemo and the scalp and hair thing is happening. Oh well no more bad hair days for awhile.I had my right breast and 27 nodes removed 6 weeks ago and I am now having 6 x 3 weeks chemo. So looking forward to Christmas.

Once againI thank you all for allowing me in your lives. You have so helped me manage this curve ball life has sent me.

  • Hi Lovley Ladies Thank you so much for your welcome. Seems as you are a little further along your journey and I hope it will become easier as it goes along. To put you in the picture, I had my right breast removed and 27 nodes on 25th June. Pathology 25mm grade 3 invasive ductal cancer with 1 node involved with oestrogen 95% positive. Surgery went well and I found the advice of walking helped me immensely as I started day 4 after surgery, walked every day up till first chemo FEC which slowed me down for a week. Treatment is 3 cycles FEC then 3 cycles of Docetaxel followed by Arimidex for 5 years. Not sure about reconstruction. Before surgery I felt it was a no question but now I think with what is ahead I will have to see. I am one of the lucky ones with a most beautiful husband who has been my rock. I feel so much for the ladies who don't have that support. Thank you for taking the time to reply and I will follow everyone progress through their long journeys. Love J
  • Welcome and hope you are feeling better after your first chemo.  You don 't say if you have already had surgery, so I hope you have had a good diagnosis.  I had surgery in April (bilateral) and have just finished 12 weeks of weekly chemo.  The feeling of freedom is heady stuff.  However, I am now looking at 30 radiotherapy sessions and further surgery in October.  Can't get off the roller coaster, but at least it powers along, and we are getting towards the final goal.  Like you, I look forward to Christmas - a cancer-free Christmas - what a great gift that will be!

This site has been such a comfort - our pink sisters are wonderful.  You never feel alone.  There is always someone there as you have found.  Keep posting so we know how you are doing.  Love, Michelle x

Hi and welcome - It' so great to know that you are feeling part of the family already :-) and that you have felt supported through this emotional time. As you will have seen over the last 6 weeks there is always someone who has been there done that and can give you advise and support.

I thought you might like to look at an older post called 'You know your on chemo when' - http://www.bcna.org.au/network/groups/5157/blog/26432

  • welcome, and glad you have found this site. We all hear have gone through what you now are about to start. I was diagonosed back in March. Had a lump removed on right breast and had 20/20 lymph nodes removed. Am on last 4 sessions of chemo, having total of 12 chemo sessions, then I have 30 sessions of radiation, replacement therapy and have to have ovaries removed. Hope your chemo doesn't give you too much grief. What treatment are u having for chemo? I was having FEC and now Taxol. Have you already shaved your head? I found that you should shave as soon as it starts to fall out, as I left it for a little longer and paid the price. As my hair was prickly it hurt when I tried to sleep. keep blogging hear at any time , as we ladies are on day shift and night shift here. As at times we can not sleep and logging on or blogging at all hours seems to help. Hope all goes well and feel free to ask anything, as there is always someone here to answer any question whether big or small. Luv Julie xx
