Taxotere Truck

Had my first Taxotere on Friday after 3 lots of FEC. Feel like I've been hit by a truck. Side effects much worse than what I experienced with FEC. Anyone else in similar situation? How long did the effects last for? Did anyone change over to weekly doses? Feeling a bit 'knocked for six' as had the impression this wasn't as bad as FEC.

  • I finished chemo in March this year then followed up with radiation and I can understand how you are feeling. I was so excited about finishing chemo but then like an old old lady. I am 54 years old but I had trouble walking up stairs, in fact walking anywhere! I ached all over. The tiredness from radiation is a strange feeling, just felt really drained. I never realised what fatigue was until all this happened. It takes a long time for our bodies to recover after everything it has been through. I started feeling better in July, then continually improved (I was very impatient). I started back at work late September, I still have aches and pains which is from the Arimidex but I'm learnig to live with that. Hang in ther, it does get better. It's such a long road, wishing you all the best,

  • Hi everyone , I too feel terrible! The fatigue is killing me, I had my last chemo session with the dreaded docetaxel on the 19 th august that's 6 weeks ago! I still can't walk very far, always lying down, muscles are so sore, everything is so difficult even showering! Now radiation starts 7th October I hear that makes you tired! Scared to death of feeling any worse! Looking back I wonder if weekly docs would have been easier, I didn't realize or told about these side effects, my advice is to ask your Dr. Would love to return to work as I'm running out of long service time now, so much for that being part of the retirement . Sorry I'm no help!
  • Thanks Ladies :) Just feeling a bit down. Seemed to do so well with FEC and then this hits with the exhaustion, constipation, nausea and bone pain. And everything tastes awful!!
  • I seemed to cruise through FEC and was knocked for six when I started on Docetaxol. I still got a treatment every 21 days, however, my chemo buddy went onto weekly treatments, not sure why that happened. We had the same oncologist as well. I didn't cope too well with Docetaxol and I asked the oncologist why it was so much worse. I was told that it is the harsher drug but it is also the most effective. To be honest, if my first 3 treatments had of been Docetaxol I would never have turned up for FEC:) The oncologist laughed and said that's why we do it in that order. I felt the side effects lasted longer but that maybe because the effects and fatigue are accumulative so it stands to reason that we feel worse towards the end of the treatment. Some ladies on this site didn't have great trouble on it, so it just proves we are all so different. Hope you are feeling better soon, big hugs to you,
