Taxol

HI All,

I'm half way through treatment (have had 4 rounds of AC) and about starting Taxol in a week. I've chatted to a few women who were offered ice mits duirng Taxol to try and prevent peripheral neuropathy, but where I'm having treatment only offers the mits for Taxotere.

I'm curious to find out if other women have tried the mits, and if they had a 'fight' for the right to use them if it wasn't offered.

    Thanks Julie,

    Did they talk about the freezing helping with peripheral neuropathy - so nerve damage in the fingers and toes?

    No i was given the mitts but i used bags of frozen peas on my toes, i know i looked weird but it worked for me. If they wont give you gloves i recommend taking the peas in their bag, inside a large ziplock bag, and just stick your nails where the frozen peas can chill them. I took them in in my trusty little lunch box type chilly bin. No time for vanity here. My nails survived almost perfect. All the best Julie xx
