Taste buds.... Be gone.... Again!

Day 2 - after round six.

Well there goes my taste buds.... and the feeling in my tongue and my toes.... and my fingers!

Bugger! was starting to get a little taste back! Oh well...it will come back again...The numbness in my toes is very annoying and my fingertips are tingly...I also have no "grip" on my fingers, it's like they have been sanded smooth.

One bonus is that I don't have any bone pain! The Oncologist decided to let the neulasta injection slide this round as my blood counts were good...The neulasta stimulates the bone marrow to produce white cells and therefore you get pain....I can't tell you what a relief it is to not have that teeth clenching pain! I will pray thought that my white cells don't drop to much meanwhile...

Went to work today and was OK, then after about 2 hours I started to run out of puff and the words and numbers started muddling together....chemonesia was kicking in....so I called it quits and got chauffeur driven home.

As the afternoon wore on the tiredness kicked in but I managed to cook some dinner.....and now that's over...I think it's time to rest now....

The zombie shuffle has returned....I am achy (muscle wise) and sleepy, but otherwise feeling a lot better than the last two rounds without that wretched bone pain!

I am predicting I will sleep well tonight....

See what tomorrow brings

Stay warm!

Xx

  • Yes I was told to avoid any extra supplements, natural or otherwise while on chemo.... If the symptoms persist after chemo has worn off up consult my onc

  • I think wait a few weeks before taking vitamins of any kind without the oncologist approval. ..we want the chemo to still be destroying  cells. After this time magnesium helps with diabetic neuropathy so it may assist.

  • Vitamin B may possibly help peripheral neuropathy - the tingling/numbness in your hands. Check with your oncologist but unlikely to do any harm.

    good luck

  • Hi Kath.....I'm hoping I don't get any bone pain! So far so good...so I am pretty convinced its the Neulasta that caused it...within 6 or so hours of getting it, BAM! mega pain...

Feeling a bit foggy today, but otherwise OK

Hope you are feeling better today....

  • You rest up your lady and recharge your batteries ?

Sorry to hear about the taste buds running away again but at least you know they will be back soon.

Rest, take it easy and do not forget to rinse your mouth and gargle with salty water to prevent mouth infections if you are foregoing neulasta (I also found that salty water rinses helped me cleanse my mouth and tastebuds returned faster.

Onwards and upwards from here as this is the last time you have to deal with this crap ??????
