Tamoxifen

I moved from Arimidex to Tamoxifen 2 months ago, and I am loving not having the side effects I had on Arimidex, they were just awful.

I do get hot flushes and alot of them, that seems to be it for me and for that I am very grateful.

I take my meds in the morning and have no issue caused by that, interesting though because in the 1st month I had terrible nausea but that eventually went away.

I have been on Tamoxifen for over 2 weeks now and all is going well so far. Like Robyn, I also take it at night and then sleep right through. I don't seem to have any side effects except afew hot flushes which I had before starting the tablet anyway. Ronnie xx

That's the reason for taking it at night that my oncologist told me too.Every single evening I have forgotten to take it.Thank goodness for the alarm in my phone! Let us know how you go on it Jen.Good luck! xoxoRobyn

yes i was wondering about the night thing as well; ive taken my dose in am after yoghurt/museli breaky and no problems

If you are not having any problems then I would just keep doing what you are doing. I was advised to take it at night because I eat a more substantial meal at this time and also because I was more likely to sleep through any mild nausea (which I did have for a couple of nights, although this may have been anxiety about side effects!). I was also told to drink a whole glass of water when I take it. It's going well for me so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best. Deanne xx

Same for me. I was already having flushes and night sweats so I haven't noticed anything different either. Although I take mine with breaky and I notice a lot of people take there's at night. Is there a reason for that?

The potential side effects of Tamoxifen get a lot of people very worried so it is good that you are posting about your positive experience with it, Robyn. I have been on it for almost 3 months and have not had any noticeable side effects. I was having a few hot flushes anyway because of chemo induced early menopause, so I can't blame tamoxifen for them. I am not having trouble maintaining my weight. No signs of depression or severe aches and pains. So far so good. I agree that you need to take it with a meal to avoid the nausea. :) Deanne xxx
