Tamoxifen!!

Hello ladies!Well when I last posted on my blog,I was keeping a daily record of my hot flushes, because they were getting worse, and pretty much driving me nuts! For 10 days, each time I had a hot flush,I recorded the time .I have always taken my Tamoxifen at 6 pm,so after the 10 days,I started taking my Tamoxifen at 6.00am,which is as soon as I get up in the morning. Now this is the interesting part!!!! Up until I changed the time of my Tamoxifen,I was having,on average,a hot flush every hour, with a break in the afternoon of a couple of hours, and I was waking during the night, about every 2 hours because of them.So you could say that every day I have had between 12 ( least) and 16 hot flushes.Since I changed to 6 am,the most hot flushes that I have had in one day are 5!!! And the last 2 nights,I have had none!! Is this coincidence,or could it really be because I have changed the time?Last night I woke at 2 am,but not because of a hot flush, but I think out of habit.I lay there, sort of waiting for one to happen, and it didn't. I can hardly believe it,and I wish so badly, that I knew the real reason why.I have been on Tamoxifen now for 4 months and 1 week,so perhaps my body is starting to adjust, but it seems bizarre that it changed like this.I will keep monitoring it,and let you know how things go. By the way,it's a bit sad isn't it,when your whole day is spent counting hot flushes!!! Lol. Hope you are all well.Cheers Robyn.xox

  • Hi Robyn,

Golly! What a hassle! Hope it stays this way for you now....and you can start recording something fun!

I've been on Tamoxifen 3 months now and I think my hot flushes are becoming less frequent....let's hope it's not my imagination!

Cyber hug to you gorgeous.....Jen x

  • Don't worry too much.:) Hot flushes are the only side effect I have.I have been post menopausal for 7 years, and have had hot flushes all that time, but not hourly! It has only been thoe last month that they suddenly increased. But not any more!It seems too good to be true that it could be the change in time, but I am not going to change it just to see if it makes a difference again!Cheers Robyn
  • Hi Robyn , That is really interesting . I am due to start Tamoxifem on Monday and dreading it !!! I was planning to take it in the evening . I guess I will see how I go and change if I need to. I get some hot flushes since chemo but not hourly ! Something to look forward to! :) Take care Sophie xx

  • Hi Robyn

Well that must be a welcome change! Chemo has pushed me into having hot flushes, but I'm not having as nearly as many as you! Good to know a morning dose might be helpful later on.

    Best of luck with it

    Cheers, Meg :)
