  • I have had glaucoma for a few years prior to my breast cancer diagnosis so no tamoxifen did not cause this problem.I relayed a caution my eye specialist raised with me when I advised him I had breast cancer and that I was soon to undertake hormone therapy.
  • I new a lady who decided to stop taking tamoxifen and went all new age so to speak she was only thirty something and she died last year.
  • The truth about cancer? Well, who knows, but it is probably not:
    1. A pharmaceutical conspiracy
    2. Able to be explained by a blatantly commercial enterprise that spruiks it's own (quite expensive) cures and hospitals
Ive worked as a grant reviewer for Cancer Australia for nearly 10 years. A lot has changed in the cancer research environment in that time but what I haven't seen ( perhaps I'm a 'sheeple') is any stiffling of exploration of treatment options that may move us out of our current regimens. We are now seeing drugs to help those with lung cancer being approved by the PBS that were just dreams and aspirations a decade ago.

Yes, money plays a part in all medicine but in my time in this environment I have seen many people who have taken the shitting, bastarding terrifying path most of us will travel survive. Most of those who wentdown the track of massaging their chakras, coffee enemas or whatever the current 'hidden secret' may be? Dead. Maybe I knew the wrong people or they just didn't put enough faith in the charlatans who they turned to. I'll never know.
  • May I caution against some of the websites out here in the ether? The Cancer Council and some reliable hospitals are your better bets.  While it may be counter intuitive that poisons can cure you, some of us are proof that they probably can. When there is substantiated proof that you can eat your way to a cancer cure, we will all be delighted. By all means discuss your eye specialist's caution with your oncologist, seek a second opinion if necessary. But beware Dr Google.
  • I have glaucoma and was captioned yesterday by my eye specialist about tamoxifen
