  • Hi Robyn

I had quite a lot of vaginal bleeding last year, while I have been taking tamoxifen for the last 3 years. I saw my GP as there is a very tiny chance of uterine cancer when on tamoxifen. I had an Ultrasound which showed no thickening of the endo metrium (no cancer) but had huge fibroids. So long story short had a Hysterectomy and removal of ovaries in Oct last year and feel great. So please get it checked out. my main gripe about tamoxifen is the sweating and some hot flushes. My hot flushes are a lot better since taking a low dose of Effixor(anti-depressant) and I also take clonidine which has helped the sweating. Feel a bit like a junkie some days with all these pills!

    Good luck with everything.

  • Hi Robyn,

Firstly, thanks for all your posts. My situation is similar to yours. Live in inner west Sydney. Treated at Lifehouse... Docetaxel/Cyclophosamide followed by tamoxifen.I think I'm about 5 weeks after you. I was so scared to start tamoxifen. I've a family history of stroke, I also experienced an increase of migraines during chemo. Chemo brought on a early menopause, although at 45, I expected it to happen soon. Reading your posts has given me the courage to continue my treatment and like you, I've found Tamoxifen quite easy. A few hot flushes only. I'm sorry that you've had some spotting. My onco said to definitely mention if you have spotting. Although it's quite normal, it's better to get it investigated. It's probably nothing... But better to know. Keep up the posts, I've found my journey easier reading what you've gone through to prepare me for what's to come. Good luck, keep cycling, keep smiling, keep posting.

Much love and respect, Ingrid xxx

  • I know Robyn and I am mostly very positive but right now I am a bit tired of it all.

I was caught off guard by my side effects to the arimidex, don't get me wrong I was expecting side effects just not what I got.

I would just dearly love to have things go right!

    Anyway my sook is over.

  • Apart from this,I feel really great:) I guess we have to expect something don't we,when you think how powerful these drugs that we put into our bodies must be.Hope you find it as easy as I have.Cheers Robyn xoxo
  • As I have just switched from Arimidex to Tamoxifen I am really interested in the side effects and what people have to say.

I am hoping to glide through with minimal fuss.

    cheers

  • That helps a lot.I was thinking it was nothing to worry about, but there is always that niggling doubt in your mind.I have my first checkup since my treatment finished,on Monday week,so I will mention it to my oncologist then. Thanks again Tonya for the reply.xoxRobyn
