Tamoxifen - short of breath 2 years on

Hello, I have been on Tamoxifen for 2 years and 2mths. Has anyone experienced being short of breath this far down the track?
It hit me really hard today at work while I was unloading a trolley of stock(replenishment day at the little supermarket where I work). I had a mask on and I wonder if that exaggerated things. I did take it off to continue moving stock. It did give me a fright as I had to slow down a bit as I wasn't able to breathe properly. I don't have a cold and am not asthmatic. My treatment was brief - 5 weeks rads, no chemo.
Many thanks

  • Thank you @Cath62.   I'll mention this when I see the Radiologist, hopefully he can do a script if need be, or even allow
a break from it. Only on it because of my age at diagnosis. I don't see my surgeon until March/April next year.
     Thank you again :)
  • Hi @Garnet70, this happened to me on tamoxifen after 20 months. The shortness of breath really hit hard. I could hardly get up stairs. After discussing with my oncologist I had a break for 6 weeks off it. I felt amazing after 3 weeks off it. However my risk profile meant I needed to go on hormone suppression for 5 to 10 yrs. I have now been on Letrozole for 6 weeks. So far I am ok. Go talk to your dr. It may not be the same result as me but tamoxifen does have breathlessness as a side effect and you need it checked. Good luck
  • Thank you Ladies @Afraser and @arpie. I will put it to the Radiologist when I seen him in a couple of weeks.
  • So Sorry to hear of the shortness of breath, @Garnet70 - as @Afraser says - if in doubt, get checked out.

It would definitely be very frightening for you.  Take care & all the best  xx

  • Possibly worth a visit to the GP. It’s always tempting to think any symptom is a reaction to medication but it never harms to check it out. Probably nothing of concern but you’ll rest easier with that confirmed. Best wishes.
