- MiraMemberHi, I've been on tamoxifen for 18 months now and am a lucky one with very few side effects. I take mine at night before I go to bed.
- melclarityMemberHey, I was on Tamoxifen for 4yrs at age 43, I had no side effects but a recurrence inspite of it. I then had Chemo which threw me into menopause and now am on Arimidex which my Oncologist said in my case will be better. I have side effects but am seeing a little at the moment that its not the medication but menopause causing more of my symptoms plus side effects from chemo still lingering. Im off it for 6 weeks as per my Oncologist visit last week, so we will see. All you can do is try it, if you feel its not great change it. :) Melinda xo
- rowdyMemberI was on Tamoxafin for a few months, my oncologist sugested as I was menopausal that I could try arimidex. i have now been on arimidex for about 12 months. I feel better in myself as apparently if you listen to my husband I was a bitch on Tamoxafin. I was also very anxious on it. I struggle with arimidex with terrible joint pain and hot flushes.
There are side effects from both , good luck - Brenda5MemberI wouldn't be on it if my chemo specialist would allow me not to take it but I am stuck with it. Hot flushes, lethargy, bone aches and a generally fuzzy brain for me. Ok, and moods and depression but I don't let on, just soldier on and one day I will be off it and free! yay! B)
- I have been in it for six months. I had some mild headaches at first which my oncologist said weren't from the tamoxifen. I also was quick to anger for a while, again the oncologist said it wasn't a side effect. The hot flushes is definitely a side effect but they haven't been too bad, I can cope with them and they seem to be settling down. I am tired a lot, don't know if that is the tamoxifen. So for me it's doable. Good luck. Karen
- Wendy__parisMemberThank you for your comments
- RNSWMemberHi Wendy, I have been on tamoxifen for 9 months. It was a little dawnting at first and it took a month but the side effects settled. I got some headaches and some minor side effects. The main thing is some joint pain. I hope it all goes well.
- CosetteMemberHi @"Wendy paris". I'm sure the other members will jump in and share their experience with you. In the meantime, where are other conversations about tamoxifen.
