Surgery Booked

Hi Ladies.    I had my second appointment at the hospital today and to my great surprise, my surgery has been booked in for this Thursday.   The surgeon was very good and knew I wanted the operation done before Christmas, so I could have some peace of mind over the holidays.    I am having pre-admission tests all morning tomorrow and then having the node mapping test done Wednesday.    Seriously, I have never been poked and prodded by soooo many doctors before in my life.     I was told I should only be in hospital for one night.  I'm having a lumpectomy and all my lympth nodes removed under the arm.   Feeling very nervous but also happy that the cancer will be out of my body in a few days time.

  • Hi Ladies,

I'm booked in for tuesday, for lympectomy and sentinel nodes, but I woke up this morning with a lump in my other breast, pre admission tomorrow so will check it out then...bit worried..but going well...a good luck to everyone <3

  • Thanks Di.   All the tests went well today, although I'm getting tired of being poked and prodded and asked a million questions.    I know this is only the beginning and I will probably get used to it!

  • So true Penny - the waiting is the hardest part.    It really does your head in.   Hope you are doing well.

  • Thanks inpink.    Good luck on Thursday.   I will be thinking of you.    We can compare notes after.

  • Hi Jo -- hope the tests went well today and best wishes for Thursday.  Nervous is pretty normal, I think -- let us know how you go.

  • I had similar surgery in October, lumpectomy and 12 nodes removed. I wasn't in a lot pain, just wanted to get home. I have recovered quite well, the little cushion they give you in hospital went everywhere with me for a while though. Rest when you need to. Be kind to yourself. Yes yes it's the waiting! The frustrating waiting, but that's what cancer is all about. Waiting for tests, waiting for appointments, waiting for results! Much love Penny xx
  • Good luck to both of you! I had my lumpectomy in 2002 and then my mastectomy in 2011(for a new lump not related to the first). Both times, I felt great relief once the surgeries were booked, and even greater relief when they were completed and the pathology showed no signs of spread. I wish for great results for both of you girls and please keep positive; it has a wonderful effect on not just your mental well-being but your physical well-being also. All the best, love Jane xx
  • Hi Jo B, Good luck for Thursday. Guess what I'm booked in for Thursday too, having lumpectomy & sentinel node biopsy, the doc thinks a couple of nodes removed, but who knows? I'm in for overnight stay too. Like you I'm glad I will be done before Christmas. It will be an anxious week waiting for the pathology results. I feel happy knowing the process has started and it will be out soon. It's kinda nice knowing somebody is mirroring my stages with me, Good Luck Jo with yours, look forward to reading your blog afterwards. Kinest regards inpink
