Paula, sorry to hear you had a rough time. Not sure how things work in your state (I'm in Nth Qld) but I think once you get to oncology/radiation you will find it a whole different experience. I have treatment in both private (oncology) and public (radiation) and everyone from the receptionists to the doctors are fantastic. No special treatment but they certainly know how to help and what to say without you asking. "Caring without the Pity".
I hope things get better for you and your future treatment is much better.
