Struggling with Diagnosis

I have been diagnosed with early breast cancer Her2. Cancer is estrogen positive and about 1.5cm. I found out 1 week ago and go to the surgeon today. The waiting I am finding difficult and seem to be in a daze and cannot concentrate on anything. Would like to hear from other people that have been in a similar situation.  Also, questions I should be asking the surgeon.

    Thank you so much for you comments. My surgery is Thursday!  Can't believe that it is happening so fast and am feeling as though I have a goal now.  Thank you for sharing your story with me.

    Thank you so much for your wonderful words.  I feel like a weight has been lifted a little from my shoulders.  the surgeon was great and am now under the care of his breast care nurse.  I am being operated on next thursday!  I cant believe it is happening so soon and can't wait to get it out. I am touched by the quick response by so many wonderful people on this site.  I think tonight I may get a full nights sleep!

    Thank you so much for your comments.  I was reading this on my phone whilst waiting to see the surgeon and it gave me a wonderful feeling to know you were thinking of me.  The surgeon was a wonderful man, (unlike the surgeon I saw earlier in the week) and gave me my options and explained everything in detail.  He then referred me to his breast care nurse and she took me under her wing and the puzzle slowly started to come together.  The surgery date is nex thursday! I cant believe it is happening so soon and now it feels as if I am in control again.

    I am 4 weeks from diagnosis and from that initial moment I was told my diagnosis I was on a roller coaster ride of emotions. My fiance and friends have been so supportive - coming to appointments with me, checking on me and crying with me. definitely take someone to your surgeon appts. You will have lots of scans etc that will be normal. I had my surgery yesterday - 1 month since diagnosis. Mine was 1.6cm. Glad its out. I know I still have lots more to go through on my journey but this is a great site to ask questions and get support from those who have been there. good luck on your journey.

    I don't know if you have already seen the surgeon,but it is a good idea to take someone with you if you can,because they will most likely hear more than you! It is such a stressful time,but believe me,it does get better,and as you find out more about your cancer and the treatment you will need,you will find that things just fall into place.The one thing that I would say,is, don't get ahead of yourself.Just deal with what you know each day,because each case is unique,and your doctors know best.This website is THE BEST PLACE to come to for support and/ or advice,any time of the day or night!!I was the same as you,and couldn't concentrate on anything in the beginning either.I couldn't even get a decent evening meal together for my family,in those early days! Take care,and try to keep busy with every day stuff.Let us know how you get on with the surgeon.Cheers xoxRobyn
