so tired

Hi All. I have just finished 5 months of chemo and though I have been tired in the past, nothing seems to compare with the fatigue I'm feeling now. I start radiotherapy in a fortnight and hope that I will be over this fatigue. I want to try to get some level of fitness back. I guess I just do it slowly. I have been reading other peoples comments from time to time but never logged on. I think its time I reached out. its so hard to be motivated.

  • Thx that makes sense. I have continued working as best I could trying to save my sick leave. I thought I was on the mend as I managed a walk a few days ago ...but I haven't managed it since. I am really tired but having trouble sleeping. I completed a questionnaire after my five months of chemo. If I completed it now, less than a week later it would be different. Thx for yr encouragement. ...and yes your right re emotions. Hope yr doing ok.

  • thanks Curly sue. I started taking fluid tablets on friday and have dropped about 4kg in fluid. today I got on the treadmill and walked20 mins at 5kms per hour. I am SO impressed with myself. last time I tried, over a week ago, I couldn't do 5 mins at 3kms per hour. I'm on a really steep block and though the walk outside my driveway is downhill, I'm anxious that I wont make it up again so have borrowed this treadmill. I was thinking of swimming but are we allowed to go into public pools? I worry in case I get an infection. I was reading about the women who develop secondaries and though they are all really positive, it does scare me. I will try to stay positive. i too take calcium and Vit D. the naturopath had me on all sorts of things but I got tired and have cut back. I think i'll make a time to see her again soon. thanks for chatting

  • Hi Margherite,

I did about the same, but fortunately dont have to deal with the radiotherapy.  I was exausted too, I kept up with the probiotics throughout my treatment and made sure (as much as I didnt feel like it) I ate - high protein is important. If you can start walking but you are right do it slowly..... I tried to get out walking and swimming even if it was once a week but now I walk a few km a day and try to swim at least once or twice a week.  You will start to pick up.... I also take calcium and vitamin D but I have a history of brocken bones :)

Stay positive- I really think this plays a big part.

    Good luck.
