SNS nail colour / gel nails and chemo
Hi - I had gel nails for many years and changed to SNS dip polish instead about 6 months ago. When bare my nails are really weak. Do anyone know if its safe to have either gel nails (which don't require acetone) or SNS (which do require acetone to take off) during chemo?

- I actually did black shellac through chemo and it did protect my nails. They got a little weaker but recovered quickly.
- My chemo nurse recomended one of the gel coat nail polishes. Worked a treat. Had no nail problems at all.
- My friend had them during chemo with no issues. I personally have little success as I have soft nails that just lift away and they also got brittle during chemo.
It's the manicure aspect to watch. Clean equipment and not done at your lowest point in your cycle. ..day 10 to 14 is important. Just prior each cycle would be best time to reduce any infection risk.
