Sleep

That's one thing that is eluding me at the moment. I just can't sleep! First I thought it was my sore head, shaved my head on weekend, very emotional, but glad it's over and done with. Thought my head would feel better, but it's still so tender. Does that happen to a lot of the ladies? It's red and itchy also. I have been using sorbolene on it.

I went out shopping in a pretty pink scarf and it was fine, I love my scarves, I got a couple from gotcha covered online and they are so pretty.

Have any of you ladies had problems sleeping? I have never had problems in the past, and it's frustrating me!

Chemo again on Thursday, then there is only 4 to go!

Hope you wonderul ladies are having a great day.

Love Penny

  • Hi Penny

I had the same problems as far as sleep goes with my Ac treatment in particular. I especially found this after the treatment day and subsequent 3-4 days. It isn't so bad with this latest round. With regards to the scalp i also found this as well. Itchy, sore for a few days then it settled down. Hang in there things do improve. Mine is starting to grow back now - baby fluff but silver! Unfortunately I can't colour until late next year! Rats! Grey hair adds 10 years to me! I'm only 47!

Happy scarf/hat hunting!  I bought a nice little red hat  from Gocha Covered too. I also made use of the Cancer council's wig and hat/scarf library. It's a free service.  I'll donate all that I don't want when this is over. Such a fantastic service.

Take care, Penny and good luck with your next treatment. ( 6 down, 6 to go! Not that I'm counting!!LOL)

  • Hi Penny

All through chemo I had weird sleeping patterns. I had to take Dexamethasone which is a steroid, for a few days each cycle and it caused the problem. It is used to prevent fluid build up and to help with the nausea. The problem resolved itself when I didn't have to take Dex. any more. Are you taking this? May be it's one of the pills they give you in the chemo day ward? Can't help with scalp problem, I had mine shaved off before I started chemo and didn't have a problem but sorbolene cream is used for radiation burns and is very gentle.

    With love

  • I think it's the chemo and accompanying drugs  that disturb your sleep.Maybe your doctor can prescribe something to help. Are your scarves soft cotton? My scalp was soooo red and itchy, couldn't stop scratching.Chemist gave me an antihistamine which helped. Also washed my head with cetaphil under the shower then applied sorbolene when dried.Just wore soft cotton when it was bad.Bald head covered in scabs is not a good look! It cleared up fairly quickly. Ah,so many added little extras from chemo!
