Shhhhhh! ....Be quiet mind
Day 16 - after round six.
Today started off painfully... My feet, the left in particular has flared up even more! It has swollen and gotten more red... And one of the toes is going white and looks like the nail is lifting ?? my right foot is starting to peel and is getting more red too now...
You'd think the effects of chemo would be lessening, but I guess it has to get worse before it gets better?? ??
It's my 26 year wedding anniversary today and I got some lovely roses... That cheered me up ??
We also had a very romantic trip to the plastic surgeon.... Well maybe hubby though it was as we got to talk boobs!!!
The plastic surgeon was a lovely man, he described everything in detail, he explained what will be done, what could go wrong , what to expect when I wake up...showed us what the expanders and implants looked like and showed us some op and post op pictures....
He was quite surprised when he asked what size I was currently... When I answered 14HH... He said oh! HH?! Then he measured me and determined what size expanders would suit my build....
He also took photos of my boobs! Kinda like a police mug shot! front on, profile left, profile right... And later I said to hubby, I feel a bit weird he has photos of my boobs on his phone! lol!
After that it was determined I would have 650 cc expanders and later implants.... These will be expanded at a pretty quick rate as required by my Radiotherapy Oncologist .... I will probably have to visit the surgeon up to twice a week for expansion to comply with rads time frame of being fully expanded in 8 weeks... Then I will start radiotherapy and have the permanent implants put in about three months later...
This volume would give me a much more comfortable cup size of a C-CC. I can tell you I haven't been that size since I was about 16!
After that lot of information overload... We went to Paul's Burgers for lunch.... Yum yum, so glad my taste buds are returning! Chicken burger and caramel shake for me!
I was a bit quiet all afternoon.... My overactive mind is still fighting with me whether I'm doing the right thing... So stupid I know! I'm no stranger to surgery , But this surgery is a massive thing... I'm getting an EXTERNAL part of me removed this time... Yes they will be rebuilt but it's still a bit surreal... I felt kind of numb and literally my feet were! Lol! and they were hurting so I went to bed when we got home and had a three hour nap...
I know in my heart I need to do this... It's just another step in the staircase of treatment.... Another step closer to the top and to being declared cancer free!
What a day!
Have a great evening all
