Sentinel positive - waiting
Hello Ladies.
Well a hell of a lot has transpired since my initial post only 10 days or so ago. I had surgery last Thursday to remove the grade 2 invasive carcinoma. My sentinel node also tested positive whilst I was under anaesthetic and Dr Schwartz removed a further 12 lymph nodes for testing. I am back at the surgeon this Thursday and as I understand it, I will find out two things. First - if there was a clear margin from the cancer and second, if it has spread to the lymph nodes.
I am confused about the following - can anyone please shed any light? If the Sentinel node was positive, and the lymph nodes are negative - is this still considered "early breast cancer" and therefore have the positive prognosis?
If the lymph nodes are positive - is that when I have a whole body scan to see where else it has gone ? To be honest, I've never felt better, I have more energy than I have in years, I am really finding hard to wrap my head around the fact that my body might be ridden with cancer? Anyone with a similar diagnosis out there ? Would love to hear what your treatment plan looked like ? Thanks ladies xxxx
